Want to avoid violence? Avoid living in places that have violent people - who are usually poor - in proximity. I always pay for the good address - far away from crime, nice neighborhood, difficult to find if you don't know the area, etc... I Never have been personally threatened physically - worth every cent I spent on rent or mortgage. Dude, ya gotta get out of there.
