  1. I wouldn't do that if I were you 377(not get insurance).Last year I was in the hospital for 3 days and my bill was 34,000.It was adjusted for insurance company discounts and I only had to pay to my 3,000 max out of pocket costs. Not being insured would have cost me over 40,000 grand with the follow up visits I had to have with specialists.

And if you paid cash/check/selfpay you'd get a 50% discount. When hospitals start charging realistic prices instead of the typical inflated insurance scam maybe we'll get real health reform...... it's a shell game and now everyone's forced paying into it.

That can look and feel just like a heart attack and also can be extremely painful. It can even make your hand go numb and your arm hurt just like a heart attack.

I had my own little ambulance ride and heart scare a few summers ago. I cut myself on something at the Home Depot, just a little cut on my shin, I don't even know how.

The wound got infected and there was a big red line going up my leg. I went to Kaiser urgent care and they decided I needed vancomycin IV at their infusion clinic. It was supposed to be some little pressurized bottles that I took home with me and I was supposed to give it to myself in a little port they would leave in my arm for a few days. They wanted to give the first dose in the infusion clinic because some people react badly to vancomycin.

So they hooked me up and turned the valve on and in just seconds I started to feel bad and mentioned it and they turned the valve off and I felt better. The technicians had a little conference and decided to turn the valve on again. They turned the valve on and in about 30 seconds I felt like someone stabbed me in the chest a few times with a big knife. They turned the valve off and called 911. I was already in a hospital so it was weird to have an ambulance come take me to another hospital but they said I had "cardio collapse" which isn't a heart attack. They gave me benadryl and morphine and after a few hours said I was fine and sent me home. The ended up giving me something else for the wound and said I was allergic to vancomycin. No shit. Gave me a good scare. :D

  10. And now that the Feds are paying, they care even less than you would how much things cost. Pricing is going to get worse, not better.

More people covered + fewer doctors (since pay/reimbusements are getting squeezed) = long lines unless you pay to jump the queue

Doesn't help if everyone's covered if you die waiting in line.
