settlement trading

    well, I called it settlement trading, but I don't know the proper name is, how it is usually called and how much (whether ?)
    it's being done already.

    At certain time intervals (daily,hourly,..)
    a settlement price is determined and all orders marked
    "settlement" are being executed at exactly that price.

    An independent commision (or computer) determines
    the settlement price according to the estimated
    best (most likely) current execution price at the
    continuous trading markets.
     
  2. Futures markets offer TAS contracts (trading at settlement). Equities offer opening/closing crosses.
