Like mushrooms popping up after a summer rain, the DOJ rushes in to file federal civil rights charges any time a minority is shot or attacked by law enforcement or whites. The pressure to do so is exponentially higher if the media claim that local authorities soft-pedaled the issue. Under Obama we saw numerous local police departments hit with federal suits that inevitably resulted in consent decrees basically turning over the running of their departments to the DOJ and local activists. Fastforward to the Trump administration. Antifa thugs are running riot, attacking everyone from ordinary people hoping to see the Inauguration to right wing groups with valid permits to demonstrate. Local authorities typically do little, except send their police out to protect the thugs from street justice. Even when prosecuted, the sentences are ridiculously light. Why hasn't Jeff Sessions jumped in with federal suits to prosecute these domestic terrorists for civil rights violations? Interfering with First Amendment rights is a clear violation of relevant statutes, just as much as racially based attacks would be. Why haven't local police departments and cities been prosecuted? This article takes a thoughtful look at it and concludes that Sessions has allowed the DOJ to be run by democrat holdovers and Deep State operatives.
