Series 7 and a Financial Mindset

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by salsinator, Aug 13, 2005.

  1. Ive read the material up to chapter 6, and with taking notes like I have been, I just dont have enough time because my class I registered for starts on Monday. I have read some of Frank Dimas total series 7 stuff too. Not sure if you guys know about that. Im going to start taking the practice tests to understand the concepts better to some of the stuff I read...see what happens

  2. in reading over the options tests with STC material, the test writters seem to try to fool you with the semantics of the question, if anything is difficult about this test, it will be catching/unraveling the semantics of the phrasing, not the concepts, this is so fucking stooopiddd, we should be tested on our securities knowledge, not on or semantics comprehension, but hell if i wrote tests for a living, i guess id need to feel important somehow too....

  3. Right. Kind of like a preview of the NYSE specialist and seasoned traders trying to fake and shake out less experienced traders to see if the newbies really know their stuff.

  4. Frank Dima (TotalSeries7.com) says that even though many S-7 candidates use his condensed, exam-pertinent-topics-only e-book study guide as a sole source, they should also practice on even more test questions (like STC's) than the 500 he provides with his book, since repeated reviewing of practice exam questions and answers is the key to passing - as the above posts have advised.

Try speed reading the manual in half an hour. You will be amazed at how much you pick up.

Then do a practise test and speed read the manual from beginning to end again. Second past with some unanswered questions in your mind will double your knowledge.

This is the fastest way to absorb a lot of material. By repeating this pattern you will soon be able to narrow down and focus on the important parts that repeat themselves in the tests.

  6. the series 7 is not a hard test to pass any means. people who fail simply did not study and/or take the practice tests. if ibanking analysts have 1 week to prepare for the Series 7, it can't be that hard.

i read the STC study guide and i failed my first 2 practice tests.
the real and practice tests contain material not in the study guide as they mention in the foreword.

many people suggest taking the tests first and then reading the chapters on all the questions that you missed.

the practice tests take a loooong time to take and review so plan accordingly. i spent about 4 hrs taking each practice tests and going over all the answers.

Bottom line, I did not exactly read my textbooks or go to class as an undergrad! I managed to graduate in 4 years.

I studied my balls off for The "7" for one week prior to my test.
    Guess what, I passed.

If you are a compulsive study GEEK and have a month read the book, If you are a lazy clam like me and just want a 70 memorize the tests in a week and pass!

  8. I hate to admit it, but I am terrible at tests and I passed.

The best thing I found was practice tests on the computer. Those put you in the most realistic environment to learn.

  9. i recommend the "dearborn's series 7 drill and practice" product. it's a practice CD arranged by topics and you can also choose to simulate complete exams. it's really a gem. i got 92% in the exam, and i owe it all to dearborn's. i took the exam in 2002.
many of the questions in dearborn's appear word for word in the actual exam as well. i had STC as well and found it useless once i got dearborn's.

    one more thing:
