compared to the +30,000 Americans that get killed in the US each year over and over again, Paris is a non event.
30,000 is 200 times more, like 1 Paris killing every 2 days.

When the terrorist is from the 3rd world one might think the underlying motive is envy.
But when the shooter is a 64 year old accountant ? Perhaps he envied all those people at the concert enjoying themselves.
Is western society sicker than we realize ? After all most of us get our way of life from movies and TV. Gratuitous sex and violence sells not boring homespun tales.

  5. For me, I'm just a bit dumb-founded about the entire thing because there is so much about the shooting that doesn't make any sense. You have a 64 year old guy who is wealthy with no criminal / medical background who was actively stockpiling rifles and ammo and then systematically planned out this shooting spree over weeks.

Usually when you have a mass shooting, someone was mentally ill and there were signs that could be seen (even if only in retrospect) and people can at least explain what led to the shooting.

In this situation, everything we know about the shooter just doesn't explain why he did it -- and having an explanation usually gives us a little comfort because we can have a debate about how to correct those problems in the future.

I've been a supporter of the 2nd amendment for most of my life, but I'm getting tired of this shit and I think we need to have a discussion as a country about this because we can't keep going on as business as usual like this ...

My solution to the lunatics with guns and mass shootings is:-
To have a specially trained citizen army that are legally entitled to carry weapons. At the first outbreak of a massacre they put on a special hat or armband and return fire. In a sizable crowd there would be maybe half a dozen " specials " reacting long before the regular cops got there.

That's just more objective evidence(on top of the ton that already exists) that background checks have no value at all. The truth is if someone is willing to do shit like this idiot did, no amount of law will stop him. If he's willing to kill himself in the end, like most of this sickos do, he'll spend his last penny to buy illegal weapons(if guns are completely banned)... That's the same old story... And people still discuss background checks and even prohibition of weapons...
But, hey, why use logic and see reality of facts? It's better to live in the illusion of safety...

No way Jose. An Army of citizens would have a fragmented leadership if any at all. Total Chaos if you ask me.

A lonely old guy on his own just hated others to enjoy themselves ?
