Military is constitutionally mandated, social programs are not. The military protects/defends liberty and freedom, social programs diminish them.

I wish every congressperson would vote with the same nothing-to-lose attitude instead of being more concerned about their political future than the future of America. That being said, based on other stories I've read, Bunning may be more interested in burning the Republican party (retaliation) with these moves than being concerned about deficit spending....a shame if true.

And you're right Bunning is so pissed off at Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Senate he's is simply trying keep alive the perception that Republicans are simply the party of the old white guy and the party of "no."
