You mean the "47%" and their bleeding heart liberal cheerleaders? Seems like I read or hear this somewhere nearly everyday. If they're so irrelevant, why are all the liberals so obsessed with them?
Lucrum, what I have read comes mainly from the political "scientists" who study this sort of thing. They seem to be in broad agreement that the majority of voters are more centrist than the left wing of the Democrats or the right of the Republicans. I'm just parroting what they are saying. But they are supposedly the experts when it comes to judging the electorate. It would seem that in some elections an articulate candidate may be able to move some of those who naturally gravitate toward the center (the que sera sera voters) to one side or the other. Possibly Obama was able to move voters emotionally in his direction by being the first articulate, black-appearing candidate. In truth, he is more centrist than you give him credit for, and that has caused a bit of a rift between himself and his Party's left. Not saying being a Centrist is necessarily a good, or bad, thing. There are times when we need strong voices away from center. This may be one of those times.
the establishment also has big risks... if they don't cease screwing with those who work for a living and pay taxes... the tea party will be able to fuse with everyone else who works for a living... union members.. some govt workers black people who have been traded in by the dems for muslims and hispanics. and soon the hispanics who own businesses and pay taxes will be a large enough group that they will reject stifling taxes. There is only a short window left for the leftists... . The dems have to destroy americans financial backbone now and make hispanics dependent or they will turn into tax paying conservatives. It may all hinge on Obamacare. Cruz and Lee are the future of Conservatives and America as we know it. It is not inevitable that working americans lose this fight. Our smart R politicians know this. If they cave... they can forget about us showing up at the polls for them. The dems know this. The establishment Rs have been very dumb for a generation... its time they got smart right here right now. Stand up for the country futures... for their grandkids. don't sellout for once.
The far left democrats were out of step with the majority of Americans for decades and still are. Yet somehow they got gay marriage, racial quotas in everything, leftist Justice Department lawyers having veto power over southern states election laws, Obamacare, tax increases and 47% of the country on some form of welfare. They are so close to getting amnesty and another 20 or 30 million democrat parasite votes they can taste it. Few if any of these issues enjoy majority support yet they are imposed on us. So excuse me if I am not impressed by opinion polls or statements about what is "possible." You never know what is possible until you push it right up to the edge and beyond. Did anyone think Obama would just give up his only accomplishment just because republicans asked nicely? That's what republicans would probably do, having convinced themselves ahead of time that they couldn't prevail and the media would be against them. But even as weak as Obama is, he knows better than to do that. He and the democrats stayed on message. The republicans frantically negotiated against themselves. The republicans biggest mistake was to shift off their initial demand to defund Obamacare. That was simple and defenible. Now they have muddied their message. Still, all is not ost. Obama, the democrats and the republican surrender monkeys cannot do a damn thing if the Houserefuses to act. ps. We are seeing now that the democrats are desperate to get out from under the sequester. They view the Obamacare fight as already won and have shifted their goal to getting the sequester lifted.
Jem, one of your more impassioned posts, I see. Also one of your more intelligent ones. Keep working on the same theme, and forget the lefty this, commie that comments, and you'll find more people are interested in what you have to say.
Plenty of people are interested in what he has to say WITH the lefty this and commie that. The fact that you identify with that side of the aisle on just about every issue isn't some happenstance.
Beltway, let me just make a few observations, obviously they're from my point of view. It seems Gay marriage is mainstream today, and becoming more so. Racial quotas are no longer mainstream at all, if they ever were, and we don't have them any more. The Court struck down strict oversight of Southern Elections that was previously part of the voters rights act. The Justice department may still sue States over technicalities in the law. If you look at the number of folks on food stamps you will see that it mushroomed after 2008 and has leveled out. There is your explanation why so many need assistance today. There are bums of course. There always has been. There always will be. Lets move on. Let's talk about health care and what we can do to improve it, make it more accessible, and bring the cost down to the average of the 14 industrialized nations. Lets figure out how to bring our military costs in line with those of other developed nations. If you and I can agree on how to do that, and our nation does it, then we have solved our entire debt problem, we've made people healthier and happier, and we stopped excessive inflation. There will still be bums though.
you posted something that was analytical and not filled with leftist spin... so I responded in kind. I reject leftist crap when I see it... and call it what it is. I respond thoughtfully (or at least I try) to reasoned analysis.
