Normally I find your arguments and commentary to be informed and rather well thought out. Not this time, however. Why is it we are the only country in the world that should lock down it's borders? Why us? Look deeper into that reason and you will find the root of the issues surrounding security. Hint, it has to do with meddling all over the world. As for pie in the sky ideas, when an idea is correct, you don't back off because it's hard to implement. The end to the welfare state will come eventually, either through legislative change or because we will eventually go broke. But it will happen. As I've said many times before, it's just a matter of math.
Look, I totally get where you're coming from. I find it actually kind of ironic that I'm arguing the status quo case, but I just believe it will take the total breakdown you're envisioning to change things. We have millions of people now who are as dependent as farm animals on the government. What are they going to do, starve? Sure, we can enact welfare reform, and we should, but there is not going to be any wholesale repeal of the entire welfare state. Politicians are just not going to vote for anything that lets them be attacked as mean-spirited, etc. Look what happened to Romney over that guys' wife who got cancer after he sold the company. Now about the border. I don't know which countries you are comparing us to, but every civilized country in the world tries to control its borders and immigration. Yes, sadly, one reason we have to be extra careful is that we stuck our noses into places we didn't belong, but we can't take that back now. A lot of the criminal issues on the border would be at least mititgated if we decriminalized drugs or at least pot, etc. I'm all for that, but I donpt see it happening anytime soon. So we have these ranchers on the border who report that tractor trailers come across their land at night, filled with who lnows what. We can't just ignore that, can we? Well, actually that is the Obama/McCain approach, but I have a problem with it.
Again, it doesn't matter if a principle has little chance of being enacted. You should support what you believe in when you know it is right. To abandon the principle because you do not believe it has a realistic chance of being passed by a bunch of criminals doesn't mean you give up the push. Eventually, when the fiscal situation collapses, it will come to pass. That's why Libertarians are relatively calm, because they know they will be proven right some day. Welfare will indeed collapse.
Margaret Thatcher said it too.... "Eventually, you run out of other peoples' money." The Socialist platform is soooooo cowardly and chickenshit for politicos to support. It's an easy sell to "give you money/benefits if you'll vote for me".... and the hoi polloi are "down wid dat". And the end results are all bad.. unless you're one of the controlling elites in the police state.
"Sen. Ted Cruz Wowing Them In Iowa" Can even one of you reichtards explain how a half-Cuban from Canada is legally qualified to be President of the USA? Bonus points if your explanation doesn't resurrect the birther horseshit about Obama being a half-Kenyan from Kenya. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Cruz on the other hand is decidedly not a natural-born citizen. Not a point of debate. And he had only one American parent when he was born ... on foreign soil. Extra bonus points: explain why Papa Cruz waited almost 50 years to become a US citizen after escaping Castro.
Don't get your panties in a twist, princess, I'm just asking perfectly reasonable questions in a non-ranting way. Sorry if your time of month has cancelled what few powers of reason you occasionally possess.
"Reichtard's?" isn't part of your commie douche vocabulary? btw, I can't help but chuckle at the irony of your sorry leftist ass using sexist insults to try and score a point. What's next? Are you going to start calling your detractors "homo's" and "faggot's", while you defend gay marriage in another thread. (and yes, you are still a cunt)...but remember I'm not a pc "dildo" so I don't to follow the rules that you and your "politically correct" idealogues scripted.
All well and good about illegals, but it'll be a done deal by 2016. That ship has sailed. They' re here! There are more coming, and the welcome mat is already out. Just a matter of wrapping up the loose ends. Great idea that republicans should stay out of social issues. They won't cause they too like the government telling us what we should and shouldn't be doing, just on different issues than dems. Third party libertarian/whatever? Nice thought, ain't gonna' happen. WalMart isn't going to stop a mom and pop store from opening across the street. Hell, they might even give'em a tip of the hat publicly, and then fuck them every day until they're crushed. Our two party dictatorship and their minions in the media will do the same to any third party. Revolution? Sure thing. I'll be right behind you. Which one of you leads the charge? Anyone up for taking a bullet? Spending the rest of your life in prison? Yeah, me too. I'll stay put. Writings on the wall. It's over. Plan your exits accordingly.
