So you agree on consequences in one example, but not in the other. So who gets to determine what consequences should be suffered and which ones should be eased? You? Please describe what criteria should be used to bailout (which is effectively what we're talking about) someone who made a mistake.
This is largely an exercise of expenses, too. For example, I make a solid 6 figure salary. If I decided I wanted to have 14 kids, I'd probably be close to the poverty level as well. Someone making minimum wage that chooses to have three kids, knowing full well they cannot afford these children, well...there has to be a level of ownership to that ordeal.
Well maybe you think children should pay for the mistakes of their parents but most moral people do not. The minimum wage should be raised.
A liberal is apparently a person who thinks that paying people to keep making the same mistakes over and over is a good idea. They can justify this because for liberals, it's not about actual results but about feeling morally superior. And of course for their pols, it's about creating a massive class of low information welfare recipients to keep them in power.
I agree with all of that Tao I was just making the point that the stats showing illegals living in poverty are not necessarily making less than minimum wage. I forgot to ask my guys if they know anyone working for less than minimum wage or employers offering less than minimum wage.
