This is a slap at the Supreme Court and is typical of liberal think which doesn't understand that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land. The fact that this fool chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee is beyond reprehensible.

A leading senator is urging the Supreme Court to "do the right thing" and uphold the constitutionality of the sweeping health care reform law championed by President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats.

In a floor speech Monday, Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, directly addressed Chief Justice John Roberts, urging him in a sharply partisan tone to keep the law, passed in 2010, in place.

"I trust that he will be a chief justice for all of us and that he has a strong institutional sense of the proper role of the judicial branch," said Leahy. "The conservative activism of recent years has not been good for the court. Given the ideological challenge to the Affordable Care Act and the extensive, supportive precedent, it would be extraordinary for the Supreme Court not to defer to Congress in this matter that so clearly affects interstate commerce."

It is unusual for a member of Congress to tell the high court how it should vote on a case during the weeks that the justices are crafting their opinion. Oral arguments were held in late March, and the court has been quietly working behind the scenes. An opinion is expected by late June. The Vermont Democrat attended the three-day oral arguments at the Supreme Court.

  2. When the court rules in favor of the policies we like, the court is doing it's job. When they rule against the policies we like, it's obvious judicial activism legislating from the bench.
    Signed,
The Congress of the United States

Leahy is a nutcase and the liberals know that the SCOTUS is going to rule against them and stop the destruction of our medical system. The days is approaching rapidly. Its all over for Obamacare.

Then its just 5 short months until we get rid of Barrack Obama completely. The worst President in US history.

It does seem like one of Obama's SCOTUS appointees has leaked the decission to him. It seems he's told a few of his cronies who are now crying foul in hopes of intimidating the court.

Agree, the libtards seem to have been tipped off by the wise latina. They'll try to demonize the SCOTUS but it will not change the fact that the law is unconstitutional and is null and void. We'll continue with our private medical system and the idiots in Washington cannot do anything about it.

I'll bet Obama wishes he didn't insult the Supremes at the SOTU address last year LOL.

And, I hope he never gets another chance to do it again from that venue. :)

LOL yes, the lesson for libtards will be that the American electorate is like a baby you are holding in your arms. If you force something down its throat you will likely see it puked up all over you in short order.

This arrogant piece of shit thought it would be a good idea to use almost all of his political capital to force socialized medicine upon the American people and he is getting exactly what he deserves.

The system works. It isn't pretty or graceful or gentle but the constitution is a work of genius and the founding fathers would marvel to see it knock down this community organizing panty-waist with such force and finality. As long as the constitution remains intact no dictator will ever be able to seize power in this country.

its kind of odd seeing leftists criticizing the court.

it was the Supreme Court which ruled in a leftist agenda in the 50s.

Now all of sudden when the left starts pushing some crazy plan which forces people to pay money to insurance companies they have a problem with the court protecting peoples rights to be free.

If they were concerned about an over active court why are they not railing against the CA Supreme court which overruled voters on Gay marriage.
