  1. i am quitting my job as a prop trader. does anyone know how easy/difficult it would be to get a job selling stocks/mutual funds at a decent bank? prop trading has been my only job since leaving college without a degree.

and what kind of opportunities are there in this field?

It really depends. My perception is that these types of jobs can be difficult to break into at an entry level, since many postings I see seem to require previous experience and/or formal certification. The other thing is that I think they would likely be looking for you to have completed some formal education.

I've considered financial planning or wealther management as a career, and my biggest issue with it personally is that it seems to be extremely sales oriented. I would like to do the job for the purpose of helping people (I think that I could probably be very good at explaining finance to people in simple terms), but the sales focus is not something that I like.
