Selling short term options, and Taxes

  1. if a Non-Professional Sells some Puts, less than 1 year out
    [for income], and the stock remains flat,

    at expiration, is the income considered short term?

  2. The profit from shorting options is always a short term cap gain no matter how long you hold it.

    IRS Publication 550 is your friend.
