    VTTrader -

I understand what you are looking for and what you need. I have built a backtesting platform running on SQl Server. Send me an email to the address in my profile if you are interested.

    Splitting yourself you mean? :)

Why are you saying that? This is how the software industry mostly works.
Which might be an argument for you, actually :)

    VTTrader -

It was very funny to read your posting. :)
I'm a professional software developer with too many years of experience in IT area, so my 2 cents (I assume you target FX market):

    - If you need to have your job done, you have to hire the professionals and pay them a lot of $$/hr. Otherwise you'll end up with 10 grade amateur student and eventually clear up you trading account. It is not the best forum to look for IT people.

    - CMS Forex VT Trader is not a platform+broker to make money with. But IMO it is pretty good to play with their demo. So, do it yourself. This platform has very straightforward scrip language oriented for non professionals, data export, the number of indicators and pre-programmed trading systems. But again, I would NEVER use it for real trades!

    - Free historic data for backtesting can be found at GAIN Capital. API should be taken form your broker only.

    Good Luck

I agree that it will cost a lot of $$ and take a lot of time.
This forum read not only traders but developers too.
Perhaps VT Trader isn't the best platform to make money but at the beginning it will enough to see whether your system is efficient. Then you can take a look at broker like interactivebrokers.com.
There are a lot of missing ticks (and other noise) in historical data which provide GAIN Capital. So the best variant is to buy verified data or accumulate the data by yourself.

So if you still looking for a developer - you are welcome (send me PM).

  5. Hi VTTrader, one on ET should never assume that many of our 'trigger-happy' posters do the following:
1). Read a post(s) in its(their) entirety prior to replying.
2). Understand the post(s) prior to replying.

I know, common sense you would say, but remember, this is ET. :D

As to the unprovoked hostility, these are usually associated with in-duh-viduals who know it all, have seen it all and done it all, and and it would appear that a Fusion reaction is in progress in their posterior. These in-duh-viduals are usually afflicted with various personality disorders - indeed the DSM-IV committee could include many cases from the psychopathologically rich exchanges on ET.

Do they belong in the 95+%? You be the judge...

Best of luck with your quest.

  6. equalizer,
knowing you from fluttering around at ET's in a most "random" manner, let met help you how to read a post:

VTTrader, most naive as apparent from his search for help with Automated Trading "coding", kind of smells dough from two endeavors: backtesting + entering orders automatically.

As I have often expressed in the past, in building an automated system, the backtesting part (whatever that means) has to evolve hand in hand with the strategy and order management part. These are inseparable. Especially for those who don't grasp this, hiring the services of a "coder" will lead you nowhere.

No further comment on your pepped up senseless and frustrated 95+% loser's bullshit.

    hope this helps

PS: you wouldn't per chance have done some work on turbulence? Just curious... :p

  7. Hee hee hee... As expected... standard response. ET's very own judge, jury and executioner (and BLMNCOM!). Yiavol.

Before "helping" others (what a guy), you should really try to help yourself, as it would appear that you need all the help you can get, and I would gather - from the way you present psychodynamically - that you appear to need that help in many aspects of life. The fact that you read SOOOO much into my post would indicate that.

Looks like someone REALLY needs a hug.
NN, do I sense a little frustration. The markets or sexual? In your case perhaps both :)

    Ciao Loser. :p

PS. You seem to be an expert on turbulent flow, as it pertains to a certain part of your anatomy. Now get back to your prescribed dose of Olanzapine...
PPS. it would appear that some can use ET's search functionality, yet still cannot read posts in their entirety nor understand what they try to read...

clearly you know what it is you speak. but I think you have the wording twisted. If users had much of an idea of what they really wanted, much of the software/services industry would dissappear.

This thread is a perfect example. Someone could have bilked this guy out of thousands, had someone not made the simple suggestion of looking for something canned.

Now that is KA-CHING .... perhaps YOINK is a better phrase.

(My top hourly billing as a technical consultant was $285, I was on w-2 so saw little of it)

Nice, mind if I use that? psychodynamically. very cool.

I'd bet doctor phil would gain some neilson ratings throwing that word around. Hell he could base his entire show around it.

    "Pyschodynamically Speaking With Dr. Phil"

I agree, if nonense was offering "help", I don't want to be on the receiving end when he tries to "hurt".

  10. Ha ha, yeah I thought maybe it was giving too much away to use "present" and the "p" word in the same sentence. Lucky I didn't use "differential diagnosis" :)
