SEC margin rules

What happened to the new SEC margin rules?

When are they going to enforce 25k minimum for margin accounts?

IB help just told me "we don't know when or if it is going to be enforced"

 

If memory serves, the rule will be going into effect sometime around October.

In the last thread that was posted about the new margin rules, somebody stated that the margins for accounts over 25,000 would be extended to 4-1 can anybody confirm this....

That is correct. According to the new stated rule, those categorized as daytraders with more than $25K will now be allowed 4 to 1 margin.
