SEC coming down

  1. The SEC coming down on prop firms, recently Tuco.

Has something similar to this ever happened before?

If so, what was the issue and what was the end result?

  2. The SEC tried to clamp-down and regulate Hedge Funds in the
early 2000's, but were beaten back by an army of astitute
attorneys. The difference between hedge-funds then and Prop LLC's now is that prop-firms do not have the same war-chest.
You can bet that the major brokerages and hedge-funds have dedicated lobbyist who carry water for them if threatening
legislation appears on the horizon. Sadly, Prop-LLc's do not
    have these resources.

  3. ic. just asking cause talked to someone and asked, "this ever happen before/is there a precedent?" guy goes, 'oh yeah this has happenened....but we'll see".
