For me ARCA has been gone for a few weeks & it's $30 a month. Today INET is now gone. Anyone else notice that ??? What's up with that...must be related to this notice since it kicked in today.
Now that all the ECNs have been snapped up, no reason they can't just raise data prices whenever they want. And notice how ARCA and INET almost simultaneously started charging for data. What a coincidence! Good thing that the competition between the two is enough to drive prices down! Who wants to start the next ECN competitor to these clowns? If you get enough orders and survive the temptation to get bought out by the bigger players, then maybe you won't charge for data. That would be nice.
You really hit the nail on the head. The ECN's were just businesses that were ultimately looking for a buyout (payday). Now that both NYSE and Nasdaq are public companies, I think there will be a merger in the next few years. There is a pilot program next year involving both NYSE & Nasdaq stocks. And unfortunately, I bet we end up with one big Nasdaq type market.
Yeah & I guess it wasn't just a 1-day glitch yesterday since it's still gone. Now all I have is the regional exchanges plus NAQS & ARCX...whatever those are, none of which I can hit. I can still hit ARCA & INET, but now BLIND unless I want to pay extra, which I don't. Even with just the INET showing, you knew ARCA was there at the same price too with just about the same size & this gives you info. which I miss. Oh well, guess I'll wait a little while longer & see if it makes that much of a difference not having it.
