SEC Approves ArcaBook Fees

Discussion in 'Wall St. News' started by gimp570, Oct 23, 2006.

  1. i am just wonderin' how bad can it get and very worried about the hybrid introduction and its implications: ystdy i tried to buy amp at the open and kept tryin' durin' the whole 2 thick up bar and the ask was locked all the time. there was just no way to get a fill. i'd like to know if other traders are experiencin' the same on nyse, before was not anywhere near as bad.

I have not heard this...but lowering SEC fee a little over 50% seems like alot to me......Anyone here anything about this....

does not seem like something they would do...why give anyone a break when they have us all by the nuts

AH, yes, the joys of price gouging. Works great when you own the stocks. Come on you guys it is not good to have it bothways

    Sorry!!!!!

I can not wait to see what the CME and CBOT merger has in store for us future traders. We will be complaining next.

This is what happened just before the Roman, Greek, British etc empires all went into the toilet, gouge em and take the money and find new fertile ground. Good luck. can not wait to see how things iron out after the elections, can you even imagine what will happen if the crooks in office now win big? :D :D

  6. It is true.... the SEC Fee is only used to recover the costs of the SEC and related costs. Since the volume and the share prices have increased dramatically on equities since the previous budget.... they are able to reduce the SEC fee for fiscal 2007 because there was a surplus from last year.

If we go back to 2002 levels... expect the SEC Fees to triple or go higher... and if we double volume from here in 2007.... expect the SEC fee to drop further.

You can find more info on the SEC website... but thats the way it works.

  7. It's always been like that in nyse stocks. When the stock is moving up fast, the crook freezes and then spreads up and fills you at the nastiest price possible. So use the ecns during violent moves. Actually the hybrid is supposed to make this "ask freezing" thing disappear. Because now your orders will get filled in a second like in nasdaq. The specialist ask just jumps to the next best ask on the book. And the specialist(or specialist bot) rarely ever freezes. If you traded MA the past couple of days, you'll know what I mean. Its a hybrid and when you place a market order, he fills you at the best prices on the book. So if he is showing 100 shares at 74.50, and you place order at market for 500, you get 100 at 74.50(if you're lucky) and if next ask is at 74.60, you get that and if that 74.60 was cancelled by the seller, then you get the next best ask maybe at 74.75. He rarely stops to add lquidity or give any price improvement. You just get what's there, so you have to be much much more careful with market orders. When change comes, good and bad will come with it. The good being instant fills and the bad being uncertain prices. We just have to adapt...I don't even know if I can adapt to this speed, its just incredible. Or maybe MA is just a low float maniac coupled with hybrid which makes it crazy..

  8. thing is the stock was movin' like a slug, stuck at a price for what seemed like an eternity, news of a tender offer was affectin' it, maybe that got somethin' to do with it. ecns were out of the q. 10-20c spread and more. i have to try mkt orders, maybe it's the only way.

  9. you are right, i am whinin' a lot recently, but am gettin' frustrated that i get cut off from my best trades/setups. am tryin' to figure out a way around it, cuz this shite is real.

by the way have u ever traded the open on news stocks, these are real screw ups, not my imagination, that's why i asked if others are experiencin' the same and maybe have found a way to get in and not on ecns that aren't an option most times.
