    SEC alleges ex-Florida firm defrauded thousands
    The Securities and Exchange Commission is charging that a former Florida-based company defrauded thousands of investors in a $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme. The SEC filed a civil complaintThursdayin federal court in Miami claiming Robert H. Shapiro and his Woodbridge Group of Companies, formerly headquartered in Boca Raton, defrauded more than 8,400 investors. A federal judge issued a temporary asset freeze and ordered an immediate accounting of investor money.(Associated Press)

    And to think...These are just the ones we hear about. Imagine how many more have gone on, and continue to do so, undetected.

    This is my first thought when I read about Ponzi scams, to be honest. How many others, and how many victims are out there.

    nothing new here. SEC has a well deserved reputation for closing the barn door after the horse has escaped.
