SEASON 2, thursday TV WALLSTREET WARRIORS

  1. The finance degree from wharton only gets you in the door. the lack of a degree from a prestigious school usually holds the door shut. the people hiring traders for the big banks dont hire just on a degree they arent stupid. using college degrees as a filter helps weed out people like stock_trad3r et. al.

  2. My point is that trading is and always will be a rags to riches industry that doesn't require a fancy ivy league degree. If you want to analyze corporate balance sheets and structure financings deals that is one thing but having an MBA or finance degree in trading is practically useless.

  3. Huh???

I can understand she wouldn't want to be doing that merchant banking gig. Yeah being paid in Euros is great given the present exchange rates but damn those hours and the sacrifice. Even for a few years it would be stupid to take it really. Life in your 20s to your mid 30s are some of the best times of your life if you still remain single and living it up. Better to take a trading gig than take some banking gig any day really. But FXCM? Best bet in her case was to stay put at SMB. Also her parents are to blame since they contributed to this nonsense of her jumping around.

Lance and Jim.... WTF???? All I can say is thank goodness people can trade online by themselves.

  4. Cmon guys stop being silly. The exchange rate is meaningless, SHE WOULD BE LIVING IN PARIS!!!!!! duh! If she is paid in Euros is she paying her rent and buying food in Paris in Dollars??? Lot of you keep making the same statement.

Whether the job is good or not who knows but to say you @#$% around in your 20s and 30s is pretty bad. Then in your 40s you had fun and have shit to show for it. College is for living it up. She works hard for a few years and then writes her own ticket and makes good money. It is called smart for her future and responsible. She is not a trader so this job was the best thing for her.

Keep watching movies....we'll stick it out here in the real world. My point was that MBA and finance degrees are used as filters to get in the door, as some of the more astute readers of this thread were able to understand from my statement

  8. It's amazing how many people here graduated from Harvard, Wharton, etc.

Totally surprised. every time I turn around, someone here has a law degree or an MBA from Wharton or something equally grandiose.

I guess we little guys will just continue to live out our little fantasies while you Harvard MBA types make the big bucks. LOL

Did you even read my prior post, or just see the terms "MBA and Wharton" and jump on the bashing bandwagon?

I am a little guy who got laid off and am now doing this...

  10. Nothing to do with you, just a random statement. No offense intended man.

P.S. I am not aware of any bashing bandwagon on this thread.

But remember, post like this are also considered abrasive:
If you want to take things I say the wrong way and call me a basher, consider how others may interpret YOUR posts. Fair enough?
