I agree. Let me get this straight. She leaves SMB b/c her parents went to Paris and she had a job offer. She turns down a great deal because her "life and friends are in NYC" and she's gonna go to FXCM?. Umm..ya know I probably made some mistakes when I was young, but geezus...this girl is ...wtf!
In the movie "Rising Son", Sean Connery taught his assistant that he should do the talking first in the intial interrogation of the guests at the scene of the crime, and if he should get in trouble, then he would step in and assist him. This method of officer, executive officer has worked very well and limits (legal) exposure as well as forgetting details, and the like, especially in complex business dealings, negotiations and such. This method is also taught in B School, under various guises. One never exposes oneself to the direct line of fire and shameless self promotion as is evidenced here, unless he is willingly being allowed to promote his company and his ego. Its not likely that his compensation includes such, but then again, it would be interesting to see the show producers get wind of these threads and critisims... hey guys, what happened after season 1? what scandals?
Just finished watching Episode 8 and I still dislike Brett. Did anyone notice his reading material when he was unpacking "Busting Vegas"? They didnt' show much on the floor this show either.
sweeet...lemme see FXCM or a Real merchant banker...... i'll think about it some more..... also, i want brokers to call me and yell at me and tell me to double down.
I couldnt believe that she refused the guys offer for a job at FXCM. Well she is young and obviously very naive and doesnt know that FXCM is nothing else than a friggin bucket shop.
Any guesses on what kind of salary package she turned down. The guy had said 1x -3x salary as her bonus, but how much would she be making in salary alone?
It's always been funny to me how that kind of thing works. Here's a wishy washy little kid who is getting offered multiple finance jobs with big companies.....just because she has a degree. She is not cut out for this sort of thing. Having a degree in finance or whatever does not overcome her total lack of dedication. I wonder if maybe the producers are arranging this stuff or what. Just weird, there are plenty of bloodthirsty traders without degrees out there who are real scrappers who wouldn't even get an interview because the company is too busy looking for people like her who have a degree, even though their head is not in the game at all. That is why I have never respected the "bigwigs" in the industry, etc with high paying jobs on the street. There are lots of traders out ther who have kicked major ass in the markets without ever having to go the prima donna route. Not a rant, just an observation. Many people out there get high paying finance jobs for no good reason other than a degree...doesn't make sense to me. A degree does not overcome a lack of dedication to succeeding in reality. A degree does show that someone is dedicated to succeeding in a world of theory (school)...but not much else. This is just a generality. There are plenty of exceptions to every rule.
they are throwing $ at a college degree cause that is how she has shown that she has SOME level or ability. they can mold what they know. trader w/o degree who has made $$ is great. but she/he is an entrepreneur and not a worker bee. a trader w/o an degree and failure at trading is a bum--that is until he makes $$. college is not a bad place to be.
