SEASON 2, thursday TV WALLSTREET WARRIORS

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by jtnet, Jan 22, 2008.

  1. Exactly.... scenes of him driving a Ferrari, a Bentley and flying in helicopters and doing polo events are not fun for a show focusing on trading issues (hopefully). To me he is just another rich guy and there are plenty of those as MTV has shown us :). He is not a trader or a part of Wall Street as conveyed by the show, he does private equity and his scenes show nothing about that whatsoever so the question is why is he in the show. As for me my remarks are completely in context of the show. I have no jealousy for any rich man but many here admit that he serves no purpose in the show, much like Timmay did.

I do not need to be jealous of anyone richer than me because I am sure there are hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life richer than me, but the floor traders could be shown for 22 minutes and the show would be even better.

  2. That's very true, I think the floor traders, their activities and their move to start a fund is the most interesting part of the show. It's the only reason I still check it out. (Well, that's not true, the brokers are funny in how they are straight out of Boiler Room.)

Their thoughts on electronic trading are interesting as well.

  3. Yeah they are talking about a couple hundred million in additional capital and they cover it for like 2 minutes but we got 20 minutes of Lance doing his Budd Fox impersonation... Would love to hear how they apply that capital in the pits and the different traders.

That would be gold Jerry... GOLD!

  4. A house is a depreciating asset for tax purposes only but owning a house in the Hamptons is a very very nice asset to own if one can afford it. I do not think I would want to drive 4 hours each way in traffic to get there for that kind of money those houses will always have value over time....

Its called Wall Street Warriors - perhaps to imply a focus on the traders, not really trading, but the people of the proffesion, and what they do and do not due with that which they earn.

  6. I actually think that brett does server a purpose on that show, exposing the fact that no matter how great of a trader you are, a true wall street warrior needs good networking skills. I agree its a little showy when hes driving around in his ferrari or bently, and the polo stuff was a little giggity, but he does show that to get to that next level of money managing, you do need good networking skills.

  7. Brett t is not a trader. It would be more interesting if they went into detail on the private equity fund but they don't, instead we get MTV Cribs. I would find him more interesting to learn more about how the fund operates and what he does. So far he is just the fund's social secretary.

  8. The floor traders show just how badly the whole thing needs to be automated.Should have been done years ago.

  9. As well as Brett has done for himself, it really doesn't make for entertaining tv. I doubt there's a trader on this site that would rather see Brett then some heated fighting in the pits..pure fear and greed run a muck.

They should pick out a few colorful floor guys that trade their own acct and assign a camera person to each.

I still like the idea of Brett and the private equity firm he's associated with (still unsure exactly what his position is), this is wall street after all. Perhaps it would be better if we saw Brett and his colleagues analyzing their investments, going over actual dollars risked and rewarded, similar to the pit traders pnl.
