If you need a suggestion, then I'd say grab up one of the Asus LED monitors. Most of the good ones can be picked up for ~$150. They have amazing brightness and contrast for trading. I spend $400 for 4x21" monitors (1 LCD and 3 LED's). Gives me a total resolution of 7600x1080. If you go with something too small, you'll end up wasting excess PPI resolution.
I have a maximum screen resolution of 1366 X 768 and this is the recommended screen resolution by my maker which is good for me.
Don't know how good these are, but I believe they are cheaper than the Dell 30', at 2560 x 1080 (slightly lower res than the Dell) : http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-29EA93
I work with two 2560x1600 and three 1920x1200, I really donât like 1080 screens or TN monitors but that is just me. The 2560x1600 30inch monitors are great when working with Excel or many charts, you have a lot of screen real estate. They were always on the high side but now there are off brand ones for $600 to $800. As to the question of max resolution it is now 4k at 3840x2160: http://www.extremetech.com/computin...mer-oriented-4k-monitor-yours-for-around-5000 As the name implies it is 4 times the resolution of a 1920x1080 screen, and thus you would need 4 times the graphics power to really use it correctly. No one here is going to pay $5k for a monitor and $2k for SLI Titans to run it, but there are people out there who will.
opt789, mind if I ask, how do you have your three 1920x1200 monitors setup? I have two 2560x1600 and one 1920x1200 spare (not in use yet). The 1920 monitors are cheap by the looks. I could add a couple more of those. Alternately I'm looking at having just three 2560x1600 if that would be enough.
This was my old setup with two 30â, two 26â, and two 19â. I wasnât a fan of mixed resolutions on one computer, so I switched it a little. The two 30â are in the same place and are on one computer, and the other four monitors in the pic were replaced by three Dell u2412m on another computer. I always have two computers for backup, and to game on one while waiting for the market to do something,
Thanks for the response, very pretty setup. I've got my three (well two plus a third not in use yet) on a single 6' wooden desk. We'll see what I end up with after I start trading. I'm looking at trading currency futures. Mind if I ask, what chart software are you using pictured?
It is thinkorswim, TDA now. Just a pretend setup to fill up the screens for the pic. I trade options and they are a great firm for that. Been with them a long time so I negotiated really good rates.
