This is illogical. MAD applies regardless of what Putin thinks or does. I think you meant Putin could presumably go crazy and order a nuke to be used in Ukraine. He could of course, but MAD would still apply regardless. Furthermore, even if Putin were to order the use of nuclear weapons, the probability of the Russian Military actually following through with such an order is extremely small. Though Putin may not care if he lives or dies, that is decidedly not true of everyone else in the Russian chain of command. One can not go through life basing decisions on the highly improbable. As rational beings we are by definition constrained to base our decisions almost always on the probable in preference to the highly improbable. If we make decisions on the latter criterion we are by definition not behaving rationally.

There are plenty of irrational people, but they can't, by themselves, obtain and detonate a nuclear weapon, although the media would like us to believe that would be possible. Logic is, of course, not the media's highest priority.

Yes, the Senate leader may agree with the President. That's a happy circumstance, at least from their point of view. .

Again, let's favor the highly probable over the highly improbable. There are a strictly limited number of people with a death wish. And neither one of us want to live in a world where anyone can get whatever they want simply by brandishing a nuclear weapon.

MAD is not the deterrent you think it is for some people. Many hardliners supported all out war before removing the missiles from Cuba.Khrushchev was removed from power 2 years later.Russia even gave authority to sub commanders to launch nukes during the Cuban missile crises without permission from Moscow so obviously MAD is not as much a deterrent to them as you think it is.

With a president not supporting ending the filibuster and adding judges to The SC that president needs to go imo.

Indeed, it was very easy for those not saddled with making the decision to criticize Khrushchev after the fact. There's no shortage of those kinds of people. His critics obviously were not taking into consideration the offer Kennedy made to Khrushchev. The media of course would like us to believe that Kennedy simply insisted that the missiles be removed without offering anything in return to the Soviet leader. But that's not how diplomatic negotiations were, or are, conducted. . .

I can go along with this, but not of course if it means another 4 years of Trump with the consequent certainty that there is no chance of either of us getting what we both want.
