I remember learning the purposes of quarantines back in 3rd grade when they taught us about small pox & vaccines
Eightish was a good time. I was in the same class for a few years with a kid who had polio, leg braces the whole works. I never ever, questioned the overall importance of vaccines (not saying the Captain does) but it helps to remember/focus if you have a specific interest in the topic.
you are persistently ignorant dope on this issue. you have done this before. I said it many times. Low risk means low risk for hospitalizations and death. We know some or most of the low risk group will catch the virus. The point is they are very unlikely to die and unlikely to use up hospital resources. For instance there have only be 6 deaths in S.D. from just Covid according to one of the Supervisors. Millions of people 6 "Pure" deaths . (supervisor's term)
Well thanks for the clarification but we all know you're backpedaling. Your post stated there was no such thing as low risk when dealing with a novel contagion. Risk of what needs to be clearly defined and you didn't do it. You didn't do it for the same reason the media doesn't do it. It doesn't fit the we're all gonna die narrative. Who in the hell gives a shit about getting sick if you're twenty, or thirty, or fucking forty or fifty for that matter. What, you've never been sick before? You are victims of the media psych ops war. Who among us was terrified of catching a fuckin cold, no matter how severe the illness, three months ago? No fucking body that's who. Now the whole god damn planet is scared to death if they wake up with a scratchy throat. The risk we need to be concerned about is fucking dying. The group for that is the same as always. We needed to focus all efforts on that group and let the others go about their business. Instead we put everything into a shutdown and then did stupid ass shit like sending people with Covid into nursing homes. WTF? The reason we did all this nonsense is because the experts told us a million would die in a month if we didn't and tens of millions would overwhelm the health care system being treated. So of course faced with that the shutdown proceeded. Now we know it was all hyper hyper exaggerated bullshit. Had we simply focused on protecting, isolating and treating the at risk group all of this could have been avoided and the number of dead would actually be less, yes less. We needed our leaders to lead and they failed. Period.
Like I said, bias will have us defending our chosen groups no matter what. You know, I know, every fucking one knows he's backpedaling and you guys just can't admit. You'll call on, demand others acknowledge their mistakes, but you just won't do it no matter how innocent or irrelevant in the scheme of things. The more you circle the wagons the weaker I know your argument to be. Ya'll better lockdown tight on old Joe cause he's weak AF. You know that too, but your bias prevents you from admitting it cause the minute you do the finger is out of the dike and the flood begins.
I'm not backpedaling shit, cons in these boards just happen to have the shittiest reading comprehension. Everyone's at risk of catching a novel virus...the primary purpose of a quarantine which you and Jem "dope" refuse to acknowledge is to stop the spread of said virus. Saving lives is just a plus. As to the rest of your hypothetical bullshit, I ain't got time.
Again, the type of risk matters. Everyone is at risk of getting food poisoning. Should we all stop eating? The only risk to be concerned about is dying from this disease, everything else is incidental bullshit. Focus on the risk that matters, nothing else, problem will be much better managed.
Should the number of people in the hospital be ignored. Keep in mind that the number of concurrent hospitalizations is a top public health concern. They want at least 30% of beds to be available for COVID-19 at any time to have a buffer from being overwhelmed. And, yes there are many "low risk" people who get hospitalized with COVID-19. Dying is not the "only risk" to be concerned about. Having the medical system overwhelmed -- even with low risk people -- will lead to many more deaths.
you truly are a fucking imbecile. The CDC defined the higher risk group. What fucking joke of a human being you are. Lying your ass off for your team. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-at-higher-risk.html COVID-19 is a new disease and there is limited information regarding risk factors for severe disease. Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Based on what we know now, those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are: People 65 years and older People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility People of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including: People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma People who have serious heart conditions People who are immunocompromised Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher) People with diabetes People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis People with liver disease
