Impressive rebuttal Saynt except that your words sound hollow. Like Msfe, you just do not address the issues at hand. How on earth could LACK of evidence possibly constitute proof. Imagine going to court and my learned brother at law Saynt says to the judge : "I have no evidence so that is proof that the other side is guilty." How far do you think you will go with that kind of argument ? You will be a bigger hit than the Iraqi Information Minister. You either know that what I am saying is correct or else you are a complete idiot. So what is it going to be Saynt ? It is up to you whether you want to label yourself an idiot or not. >>Such a being would leave more tell-tale signs of His existence.<< Only those who don't want to see manage not to see what must be obvious to anyone else. Just look at your own body. For a chemical factory to duplicate the breaking down and processing of the food and air etc etc which goes on in a human body would involve a building the size of a house. And you are telling me the design of this amazing body has just happened by itself ? Yes of course this Intelligency which created us was there before us. Anyway I cannot see a direct connection between the above and trading. So why not instead address the subject of synchronicity ? And if you really want to be a knowall just challenge me to a bet to duplicate the kind of results I obtained a few years ago. I feel generous and am therefore happy to accept just one third of the correct odds . If the chances are that there is a chance of 1 in 300,000 that the results are due to chance then I am happy to bet any amount of money you want and accept the lower odds (as mentioned above) (provided the bet is sufficiently large enough to make it worth my while to get involved). And if you haven't got that kind of money then there must be plenty of skeptics around who may be delighted to join you. For such a bet I am happy to come to the US. I am confident that such a bet can be set up in a legally binding manner. You get the opportunity to prove your point and I get the opportunity to make a sizeable amount of money as well as the chance to knock some sense into you. Now I for one am honest enough to admit that, even if I win, that still doesn't prove that my results are due to anything other than chance. At least I am intellectually honest enough not to want to prostitute myself by trying to win an argument with false premises. It is your call Saynt. freealways

(Homer) : Woohoo! 60 dollars! Problem solved. Want true wisdom? Listen to Homer!
AS you get a groove at some point in the future, you will be able to up the level of your comments. The person who's thread this is, make a point that trading is application of science...blah blah... He sets forth a differentiation that science vis a vis markets is not what is on the table. The implication and inference is that trading is a process and the market is structural or systemmic. In fact, systems contain process and trading, as a process, is just part of the market system. As a practitioner, in two types of markets, and as a formally trained person and author in several sciences, I am able to differentiale in how I apply my knowledge in the two aspects of making money: participation and reasoning with knowledge. The aspect of participation in trading using science is derivative from the use of scientific methods to create the structure, process and results of markets (the pragmatic and empirical system). A person said to me: "What I like about you is that you can really do it and, like no one else you know why it works the way it does". The person usually gave autographs when we landed because he was a world champion in glider acrobatics. He made the comment when I was doing a series of hammerheads to give up excess energy before we landed. Trading is doing acrobatics but you use the science to set the ship up before you fly it. If you use your science skills and expertise to participate in trading, no one is going to ace you. People talk about chop here and most of them are on the whipsaw side of it, some are sidelined, and the few are making money. My bet is that people who are scientifically oriented are in the smallest group. I feel also that they are the ones who have the approaches that most closely resemble KISS. KISS comes from participation after having gotten the system down so you can be in the right groove at the right time. Listen to all the whiners and complainers here, they are never in the groove at all. Chop??? LOL....
saynt, i have great respect for the scientific method, science, higher mathematics, etc. . when dealing with the physical, science is the only way to go. science answers the HOW very well. some of us, however, are looking for the WHY. science can't answer WHY, so we look outside of the realm of the senses into the spiritual, mental, or whatever you want to call it for answers/questions. if you don't question why you are here, purpose, etc---nothing wrong with that--but some of us do question hence the need to look outside of science for answers. best, surfer
i very much doubt you'll understand this, in fact i know your pea brain can't grasp it but here goes anyway: lack of evidence for a proposition ("God exists" in this case) is, in and of itself, not evidence that the proposition is false. However, lack of evidence for a proposition combined with the expectation that if that proposition were true that evidence would be available does constitute evidence that the proposition is false. look at it this way, suppose you claimed an elephant sat on your car but when examined your car did not have a scratch on it. if such a claim were true there would be evidence of such in the form of a flattened car. however, your car is intact, no evidence exists for your claim, in fact evidence in the form of lack of evidence is evident, therefore, it is rational to believe your claim is fals on these grounds. now, let's take one line of reasoning here -God, if he exists, is concerned with human welfare and can perform miracles. ample evidence of his miracles should be present wherever human suffering is present, BUT human suffering most certainly exists and there is no evidence of your god! this constitutes evidence that god does not exist. do you get it? probably not. heh heh. if you understood the above then you will agree that YOU are in fact the idiot here. but here's the rub, an idiot will never understand the above therefore you won't reach this conclusion. unfortunately you may not have such a choice. >>Such a being would leave more tell-tale signs of His existence.<< well, then, WHO or WHAT created this "Intelligency?" can you answer me this??!! i think this "synchronicity" phenomenon came from the same place in your mind as did your god. no, i think you're being serious and honest here with your views, that's what is so sad about it all.
perfect example of circular reasoning... not valid other than for bar room brawls, or college discussion groups with one's intellectual ingeriors, but don't try that reasoning with one's peers or superiors just won't work. so, how does this have anything to do with trading? I believe time spent on these threads are what others who questioned what happened to ET of Yore (see thread by that name)
we are such an ecclectic collection of personalities from all walks of life and all secular practices... its not likely that we'll agree on anything other than trading, hence our participations on these threads with the implicit notion that we'll some how improve and be even more profitable, if that's possible... discussions that trend off that theme of trading run into opinion and who shouts the loudest, or has the time to use/waist/devote to these endeavours.... someone exposed their deep religous beliefs, something about dead fishes; others made severe fun of those beliefs; others suggested that writers long departed are those dead fish... frankly, I don't care what one's flavors are or beliefs are, just how can I benefit and improve in trading and make money and stop losing money from trading... on that we should agree or simply start our own boards and solicit memberships and participation...
Yowza. I'm gobsmacked. Trading is application, analysis thought? God damn. How the hell did I miss that out on that one!
