I spent quite some time in fintech, our Chairman and ceo was Tom Perkins ( kpcb) so we learnt from the best. I suspect that schlub saw a number of things:

    1. a tech they could merge into their existing offerings that the market had said was better than theirs
    2. an active user base ( thanks to the work of Tom Sosnoff and his team)
    3. tools that could be given to their financial advisors to baffle with bs ( read "all the customers yachts")
    4. a dedicated technical development team versed in the product base
    5. a driver of revenue from both their financial advisors and the users they "predicted" will stick around.

I suppose the only way we'll know what's going on is to watch the user migration numbers. why not try the creators of thinkorswim ( tom sosnoff and tony batista) latest?

I've known them personally for years and they have ALWAYS had the retail investors back. Tell them MK sent you.

they can help you to learn and get trade ideas

    they have their own exchange

and a group of people working there who are knowledgeable, experienced in floor trading and online, excellent devs ( many of the ones that dev'd TOS) and a support ethic that is founded on Tom Sosnoff's which is remarkable. They are getting into exposing their tech using an api but I haven't used it yet. I use IB's using julia, python and mojo for my personal use.

Signed up with Tastytrade, waiting for funds to clear and will play with it for a while before making a move.
I'm now an occasional trader who grew up on TOS and WeBull (which I stopped using when I learned the dev team is in China). Since the Schwab take over TOS has been nothing but frustrations, mostly with very slow or even inability to load the platform.
I'm sure IBKR is great for pro traders but isn't user friendly, like those I'm used to. I find myself using TOS for everything other than placing orders on IB.

    Hi Vicbee
a very wise decision. I'm a retail trader as well but learnt my chops on TOS. Tom and the team learnt about complexity clouding judgement. The CORE message is make the decisions BEFORE you put on the trade and that attitude is in their platform. My wife is a humanities grad ( little math) and no trading experience prior to watching the where do I start videos on tasty. She now has a 90% success rate, trading options, and loves doing it. Take the time to watch the tastytrade platform videos both on the site and youtube. Here is an example

Yep. After 10 tries I still get:

We're unable to authorize your access. Try again later.

No surprise for this POS company.

the tasty guys approach REALLY kicks in here with elevated VIX , lots of happy hunting using their app. It's a golden opportunity if you have the right mental tools. Tom's team gives you those. Check out what they are saying https://www.tastylive.com/
