Yes it is very symbolic as well but it cannot be repealed. Once it is built it is built. Will it solve every problem? No, but it will increase the level of difficulty in illegally crossing the border. It is not a magical solution but it is an improvement over the left's open border sympathies. It also serves as a litmus test among Republicans to see who wants to take action and who wants to continue to do nothing (like Jeb Bush and anyone with the last name 'Bush" as well as McCain).
The wall is a waste, they are smarter then a stupid wall.. why not pass a law that says anyone getting caught from coming into the country illegally from this day forward gets shipped to The back country of Alaska. The wall is just for brain dead idiots who can't find a solution.
Whatnopen borders policy? Under Obama net illegal immigration went to zero and deportations were the highest in history. You’re seeing Trump’s ICE menace more businesses but deportations under Trump are less than Obama. As to the wall, it’s a dumb idea from a cost benefit analysis but if it will placate the idiots on the right, let them have it for DACA.
I never used the word 'policy', I said 'sympathies'; there is a difference. You can name call all you want but I said that this Wall is also serving as a test to see which Republicans will take action and which will continue to do nothing. It serves as a test for that party internally. Obama achieved his campaign promise of The Affordable Care Act. Good idea, horrible implementation as usual with the Democrats. I still give him credit for making good on a promise to his party. I would like to see if Trump and the Republicans can make good on a major campaign promise like the Wall?
Since the wall was first proposed I knew that ultimately it was probably a bargaining position at best. I am totally against illegal immigration and none too thrilled about legal immigration. But a wall has to be considered historically and there it is clear that walls almost never accomplish the goals of those who build them. Hadrian's Wall, the Great Wall and some smaller cousins all are regarded as having failed to stem invasions or raiding or even immigration. A bureaucratic wall is what I hope we end up with. There simply has to be a legal system of immigration with people applying and being admitted in order of application based upon merit and circumstance. I cannot understand why e-verify is not being implemented and I suspect republicans as much as democrats are responsible for that.
Look if the republicans can’t manage to pass a $20 billion Security gimmick when they control the entire government then they just suck.
Barry Hussein ran on campaign promises to latinos in 2008 to immediately address migration issues if he were to be elected. Then, as with trump, he was not only elected but took both houses. So, how did that plan to immediately address immigration through legislation work out for him. Oh, that's right. He did nothing and later incurred the wrath of Hispanics by saying that he wanted to do it but he did not realize that Obamacare was going to be so difficult. Nice. And then by the time he got around to thinking about he had lost the House. So, yeh, Trump is taking hits out on the front lines of stepping up to the issue and will not get some things, just as he took hits with with tax reform. But your ilk is no position to be getting uppity as though you and your clowns would have done better. Trump sucks if he cant get all of the wall plan? Really, well, how that plan to get immigration reform legislation work out for Obama over eight years in office? Oh I see. He was resting up for the big lift that never came. And yes, I know that after the first couple years he had more republican opposition. Poor baby. He was elected by convincing people that he was the Baby Jesus who could do anything. Meanwhile, trump leaned right into immigration issues from day one- even if the going got rough. And still is. So Trump is properly subject to criticism where he will fall short on campaign promises, but not from the Do-Nothing Party- that created this whole DACA mess/"solution" that really was just a plan to put a Band-Aid on it and let it be Hillary's problem.
