Schumer just gave McConnell an out on his promise to start negotiations on DACA.

  2. No. Realistically, they want much, much more than that. But you are right, "there really isn't much immigration reform democrats won't accept." They have no choice. They are not holding many cards to play, and the public is not with them beyond the dreamer issue. If they overplay their hand, the dreamer issue will go into stalemate and sputter for months/years to come.

The shutdown was the worst thing that could happen for dems who wanted the full buffet of immigration bells and whistles. But it is the best thing that could happen for the dems who realize that they had better get the half loaf and live to fight for another day on the other issues. Your ilk has been forewarned by the shutdown that people will stand with the dreamer issue TO A POINT but you are not going to get all the chain migration, and lottery programs, and wall-prevention that you want nor are you going to get far with the argument that illegals are more important than real Americans.

As I have said several times: Be careful that you don't fuck it up. Your ilk is not that smart and could very easily fuck it up. The shutdown has given you confirmation that you are not holding that many cards and that your leaders are dumphuks. If you try to overplay the few little pussy cards you are holding in the negotiations coming up, the whole thing will go south. And yes, if a deal on DACA is reached, Trump will overwhelming get credit for it, much to your chagrin. So that's gonna cause you a lot of butt-hurt and spin. As the Hispanic token on CNN, the mouthy one, says "if Trump gets a daca fix, it will be just Nixon and China." And if he kills a bad daca deal, he will take credit for that too.

    Just looking out for you.

Its crazy but Schumer was chased back by his base. Now McConnell can renege on his promise to consider immigration in the next 3 weeks.

Chuck Schumer has literally managed to enrage both sides while accomplishing nothing. I think he has jeopardized his leadership position. I've never seen anyone quite this bad at negotiation.

    The
The Republicans could be just as bad or worse, if they allow Graham and Flake to negotiate for them.

Thanks for the look out. You’re not mostly wrong on this but democrats do hold a Trump card and can leave the table entirely. Let Trump take the blame for the DACA deportations and settle it in the mid terms.

There’s a big difference between getting a wall and leaving the status quo too.

  8. Few republican base voters give a crap about Dreamers. They are fine with deporting them all. What they are not fine with is an amnesty. It will take far more than the gang of six bill to satisfy them. Really this is make or break time for Trump's presidency. He has little room to maneuver.

  9. Yup, as discussed, I know you believe that about the mid-term option/card.

For the reasons I have outlined before, that would be a total disaster. The dems will get some more seats at the midterms because historically the party out of power does about 80% per cent of the time. But your chance of getting a veto proof majority is very slim.

So you let daca tank thinking you are going to use it for political purposes at the midterm. Then you get more votes which makes it even more difficult to put a deal together and if trump cannot get his way he will just veto anything the dems want even if he cannot get his way. Then he just lets daca deportations be his card to force dems to come around.

Oh, I see. So you are going to fix it in 2020 then. ..........the same old issue that minorities have always had in being represented by the dems. The dems just see them and their issues as tools to win elections..whether anything ever gets resolved for the people whose votes they want......is not even a consideration.

Really pathetic the way many- but not all- Hispanics are in a trance state thinking that dem hacks are looking out for them. If your ilk screws it up by going down the path that you and others support or at least think could be good, you will see a backlash among Hispanics and progressives of all ethnicities that will rip some of your favorite dems out of office. And lets face it, this all about them protecting their seats and scoring points against trump.

    Pathetic.

Dems/Hispanics such guiterrez are already breaking ranks and deciding to throw their lot in with a trump settlement. Good. The dems leaders are just looking for house seats, whereas the hispanics are concerned about daca.

Be careful. You are advocating something very, very stupid. That is your last warning.

There won't be any wide spread DACA deportations, whether or not a deal is reached.
