Excellent. So this person has been in the industry for 5+ years and stopped reading ET? Or he found that particular 5 year old thread and pointed you directly to it?
You're quite the doubting Thomas. I can appreciate the "trust but verify" approach. To clarify, my understanding of the matter is that he did a search recently on ET for Hold, and read the post. I'm guessing he didn't notice the date. I wanted to ensure others didn't make the same mistake. It made sense to clarify the matter. However, it turned into quite the comedy of errs.
Just say you wanted to talk about Hold Brothers thatâs why you did all this. Donât play dumb youâre only inviting people to attack you more. Clearly nobody here said Hold Brothers does not exist anymore. Hold is in no way the oldest prop firm or the most reputable come on. Its not a bad firm either though.
Gotcha. What's baffling is that when I do a search for Hold Brothers I find an obscene number of posts. It'd take a lot of deliberate effort to get to this 5 year old thread and somehow miss learning about Hold Brothers. Interestingly enough I also come across this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1344356&highlight=hold+brothers#post1344356 Lo and behold, ReyesCohen is mentioned by some 3 post wonder! I bet you guys are hiring at this time, huh? Keep digging yourself in further. We all place such a premium on directness and honesty in this biz, you know.
First of all, I do not owe you an explaination. I've posted on a number of subjects. This one was a bit out of the ordinary for me. That was for reasons I've already explained. I intended to post one item for the sake of clarity. People like you made this thread needlessly long. Second, I have been told that several individuals have posted on ET looking for information on our specific firm. Not one time have I looked at any of those threads to see what was written, nor have I replied. I want those individuals to get independent advice. So, I haven't been looking for an outlet by which to discuss Hold, nor am I the shill some of you have painted me. As far as inviting attacks, that's ridiculous! You need to be a professional. This whole thread has become my defense against childish attacks. Nothing here benefits anyone. Lastly, I have never claimed that Hold is the most reputable firm. To the best of my knowledge it is one of the oldest electronically based prop firms in the US. So, are we going to put an end to this thread, and dedicate ourselves to something worthwhile?
Fractal, you also found 12345 smart which speaks to your IQ. The reality of the matter is that it was two months ago that this individual made mention of it to me. I'm sure the number of posts have changed. Look at the dates, genius. Regarding the 3 post wonder, I haven't seen the threads. I addressed it in my previous post. We place a premium on professionalism, too, clearly. I'm the only one being direct here. What are your names, numbers and firms? Keep looking foolish.
The benefit is you being on record for unbiased readers who may take you or your LLC at face value. Every month some sub LLC creates a shill alias asking "does anyone know about XYZ?" designed to introduce the sub or the firm. After seeing so many of these trite marketing techniques, some of us in the business get a little annoyed. It's unprofessional, especially since these volume-based override schemes thrive on churning up traders, rarely offering anything of real value. I'll quit goading you, since your dubious explanation and what it implies is in the open now. Ciao.
You come accross as some paranoid nut case. Everything is this "dubious" conspiracy, next you'll be talking about UFOs. No one worth hiring is going to view your posts as having any level of credability. After all, we hire professionals. I know the term is unfamiliar to you. As I previously indicated, I've never looked at the thread regarding those looking for information on our firm. Those individuals are probably just a few people that interviewed with us and are genuinely looking for some info on the firm. I know that doesn't play into your elaborate conspiracy theory regarding marketing schemes. We are a large company. We do not need to resort to such tactics to market ourselves. Clearly you've been taken by some fly by night firm and are now bitter with the world. I hope you find some happiness somewhere. I agree that there are some miserable firms that churn up traders. We are not that firm. We work hard to turn out successful traders; and, as a result, we put a lot of resources into those we hire. I truly hope this is the end of this mess you've helped create. Good luck with your trading.
I always thought that series 7 was dealing more with tax information, equity laws, and executing orders for customers... if that's true, how does a series 7 help a retail trader?...
Series 7 became a requirement in around 1998 to make a distinction between "retail" and "professional" traders, so that the professionals could continue to keep the proper (exchange member) status, take advantage of capital usage, have orders not be routed to the retail brokers, not worry about "wash sale" or "matching trades" etc. Previous to that time, our members were treated like exchange members, since we owned memberships on the exchanges and allowed our people to trade our money. So, with the "investigations" that took place back in those days, primarily of unregistered firms, the regulators decided to continue to allow professionals all the benefits they were used to...as long as they could make a distinction between our people and retail people. They came up with the Series 7 licensing procedure. At first we were concerned about losing traders, but it actually worked the opposite way...we started getting much more serious, responsible, traders who were not worried about taking the test. Anyway, ever "stockbroker" has passed the test, how hard can it really be, LOL (just a joke you guys, in the vein of the GEICO Caveman, no cards or letters, LOL). All the best, Don
