As a brief side note and quick question: Is "monro@ tr@ut" the little brother of Kurt Vonnegut's "Kilgore Trout"? (eg infamous Slaughterhouse-Five Hedge Fund manager) http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/4953/kt_in.html
if Aaron blew up or had a big loss(nobody has responded to me about his Jan 2008 performance)I think what happened was: 1)last year was his first losing year and it affected him psychologically. He worked hard all year only to have a 10% loss.Yet if he had quit trading in August and taken a 4 month vacation and basically forgot about the markets, he would have had a great year- up 30+%.Those kind of thoughts will plague him for the rest of his life. Its part of trading. 2)what did Livermore say in Reminiscences? He said something like 'you can beat the market for a certain length of time, but in the end the market always ends up beating you.'also 'the market will always end up destroying you at the least anticipated moment.' now can some1 clarify Aarons Jan 2008 performance to me in a PM?Thanks.
It seems those who don't have a dime to put in his ( or any fund for that matter) are the ones harping the loudest. Instead of worrying about Aarons performance ( because you'll never invest in his fund to begin with) , if you guys would instead read his posts and cbot seminars, you'd be spending your time resource more productively. But then again, for many of the posters it isn't about learning, it's about substituting for attention they are lacking in their personal lives.
The emotional side of trading is really a roller coaster, especially for someone who is trading full time. Iâve got a mortgage. Iâve got two kids. Weâve got grocery bills, and when I have a losing day, it can hurt. I wish there was some way to smooth out the euphoria and the nausea: the euphoria of the good days when Iâm making a lot of money, and the nausea I feel when I have a particularly bad day. My wife is very supportive. In fact, sometimes when I have a bad day, Iâll talk to her about it, and sheâll help me focus on the big picture. Humans tend to live very much in the present. Even though Schindler Trading has a very good long-term track record, if I have a losing day, I feel bad. I wish I could figure out how to stay focused on the long-term good results. Losses are just part of life. Weâre going to have losing months, eventually weâll probably have a losing year, but weâve been profitable so far and we expect to stay profitable. But when youâre in that losing day or losing week or month, it just feels lousy. - Aaron
