Same as long trades, just your sell date will be before your buy date and, I believe, all capital gains and losses are automatically short term regardless of your holding period.

  3. Thanks, but more specifically, in Part I (a), How would you list the short sale if you never owned the stock?

Part I(a) says to list short term holdings...

Is a short positions listed as "-100 shares of XYZ"?

You never owned the shares so how can it be listed as an "asset"?

    Are you that stupid?
To reiterate what Aaron just stated so elegantly,
A short sale is merely the opposite of a long purchase.
Just list THE COVER UNDER PURCHASES, AND THE SHORT UNDER SALES"
If you do not understand this, you should not be trading.
It is really not a difficult concept to grasp!

  5. You sir, simply stated are a pure asshole.

If you do not have anything helpful, please refrain from posting under my threads.

No reason to waste your time and mine with useless posts like that!

Oh, and for that matter? Where in the above post mentioned that I even traded?

    Yes, I thought so....

  6. Speaking of D....I heard there are some brokers that support downloading matched transactions to automatically load D in TurboTax. (I've got 350+ transactions to matchup and schwab isn't any help.)

Is there anybody doing this? If so, what broker, what software and what level of quality are you getting?

    Tnx!
