Scanning vs. Good ole Tape-Reading

Discussion in 'Trading' started by listedguru, Aug 21, 2003.

  1. Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on scanning for set-ups and or using automation vs. good old fashioned tape reading. I've heard a lot of traders talk about using scannning tools lately as well as using full blown automation - having the computer even fire off the orders for you!!!

Which method do you use? Anyone here follow a handful of stocks and watch them like a hawk all day long? Anyone scan the market and get into play after play after play (maybe 50 plays at once)?

Thought this might be a good topic for discussion...

We have a filter so I always scan. You never know what starts moving.

But I watch two stocks all day, CIT and FSH. I've been raking it in on both of those. You just learn how some stocks trade. The others you just cant trade for some reason. So I stay away from those.
