YES. Sim or production; if ES trades through by a tick or more then it doesn’t matter whether the fills are hitting the tape. As it stands, all that has been proven is that Peter is trading IBTWS Paper Trader or IB demo.
I have had ES limit orders filled without trading through my limit. It is rare relative to my total number of orders, but frequent enough to be believable in some cases. Doubtful any one lot scalper would have it happen four times during one trading session.
There are many ways to day trade. some do light scalping with charts. some do heavy scalping with charts. some do heavy scalping without charts but with ladder only. some trade continuation only. Some trade continuation and reversal. some trade counter trend only. Of course definition of counter trend and reversal could be blurr. I analysed the way you trade. I think it is going to be very challenging to be successful. Anyway if it works for you, by all means please continue.
It’s such amateur hour. The guy didn’t even look at the sim-fills to see if they were marketable. What a moronic scam.
Destriero is a young man who attacks anything he doesn't understand but he got lucky this time. It is sim, though not TWS as he thought. I was assured by someone who has a live account with TOS that the fills were equal on his live account and his sim. Maybe that was not correct so I will stop the journal despite the fact that I still have faith in the system that I have developed.
Wow, what a complete surprise... you stated the opposite on the feedback thread. I don’t understand anything yet somehow I called it sim almost immediately upon seeing the sim-blotter. Did you represent this as simulated when you published through S&C?
Sorry Pete but some of your trades are kamikaze trades (see my posting #7) . It will be very difficult to earn money with such trades
It takes about 20 minutes on the TOS sim to figure out that the fills are bogus. And it is very widely known here on ET. It is hard to believe that you weren't aware of this. You can get an accurate estimate of what your actual results would have been by moving your limit entries one tick out and your stop exits one tick in, then assume one tick worse than shown on entries and exits. To report results without this adjustment is dishonest, to say the least. It's been a few years since I used the TWS sim, but IIRC it was fairly accurate (except for market impact) on sim equities and futures trades, and totally off for options trades.
Peter, Why were you trading it on a sim? Is it something from your past you dug up and were just trying it out first on a sim to see if it worked in todays markets? Nothing wrong with trading it on a sim but probably best to indicate that at the beginning.
