Scalping the eminis for ticks

  1. A little while back I read a post where this person said all he wanted to do was scalp ES for 2 ticks at a time. Yesterday I was talking to someone else on this subject. When I first started I had the same idea but it only took me about 5 minutes to figure out that the odds were stiff. Even using IB's low commission of 4.80 rt that would give you $20.20 on a winning trade and, assuming your using a 2 tick stop loss also (a one tick stop is not doable and 2 is strectching it) you would lose $29.80 on your bad trades. So you would have to win 60% of your trades just to break even. To make money you would have to have around 70% winning trades. Someone with heavy experience may be able to do this but it is highly unlikely that a new trader could achieve these numbers.

i guess you can forget it - if you have to pay for every single trade. and always buying @ bid and selling @ ask is virtually impossible.

just a way of killing the account quickly - imho.
