I use Scottrade, and I swing trade stocks (breakouts, tops/bottoms and gaps). If you're going to scalp, then you need direct access, so forget scottrade, TDameritrade, IB, fidelity..and maybe even MB. cm69
Do you mean that with Scottrade, TDameritrade, IB you can't route the orders through arca or other ecn's?
IB is a very good broker with great system availability, and 95% of my experiences with their reps have been positive. Definitely go with a direct-access broker. Also, trading futures has many advantages over trading equities, and you should consider choosing a firm that offers a wide range of products.
