No, my strategy is "tape reading" and I scalp to take advantage of my edge. But not all scalpers are tape readers....

  2. I also am a tape reader. The only thing on my TT(Trading Technologies) workstation are three MD order books ES, ER2, and NQ. I primarily watch ES-ER2.

I do not subscribe to a charting service. If I need to reference a chart a delayed Futuresource chart is just fine for me.

Okay...I understand what you're saying now.

So, for example, two people can have the same way of trading such as momentum trading and have two different strategies as far as edges, entry, exit, and so forth.

I understand now. I guess I already knew that, but I never looked at it in that way. Thanks.

  4. Scalping relates more to the time frame in which you expect the market to move before taking a profit or bailing out. Your strategy reffers to how aggressively you pursue those price movements and what your entry exit signals are.

I scalp using a very high frecuency strategy, above 700 trades some days, I watch an ES chart for reference, and 3 tapes per stock, one with only the specialist´s prints, one with the nasdaq prints and one with everything {even out of sequence prints} .

Just worry about gross profits for the first few months... commisions will eat you alive as you learn...
