I was testing dozens of scalping trades yesterday UVXY TZA SVXY and a few stocks with conditional OTOCO orders. Trying to figure it out. Example If it's at 22.7 going up A buy stop 23.1 entry triggers whichever happens next B hard stop 22.9 or C trail stop .4 mostly didn't work bc shaken out. Need to test different values, or exit strategy eg C sell limit 23.6 What did work was manually tightening t/s but it's a pita
Well, trading is risky, all kinds of it. Scalping has some characteristic features about risks. Surely, you'll hardly lose lots of money within a single deal, but there is another danger. Scalping presupposes that a trader spends all day long sitting at the computer and watching the charts, So, the more time a trader spends lookng at the charts, the more emotions he/she experiences. Scalping is risky and the major risk comes from the psychological side. As everybody knows, emotions are detrimental for trading and if you have troubles with controlling them, you'd better stay away from scalping and trade long term in order to reduce the total effect of psychology in your decision making process.
Part of the risk comes from the reason people scalp: You can't swing trade because you don't have the proper capitalization to do it, so you scalp; You don't day trade because it is boring and not fast enough for you; You need your shot of adrenaline as it is very high when you win.. or loose, or you need to get rich fast; You are not successful with day trading stocks.. so scalping forex could be the answer.. etc. I scalp because my scalping method gives me more than it takes, during a very short exposure to the market. I also swing trade (EOD), with very low leverage to compensate for a longer exposure.
With scalping, you are going to have to take benefits of high amounts of trades to generate enough profit; for some traders, the risk of just generating small profits isn't worth it.
Scalping maybe not suitable for beginner traders because this required high concentration in trading, and also need a good broker that allows scalping, scalping trading style can become profitable trading if traders already work fully discipline, in certain contest trading, I see scalping traders become one winner in a contest, so actually this is good trading but need skills to wored
Speaking of the current market conditions yes, but could it get better? who knows there has never been the best time to invest, look for opportunities and dive in. scalping is definitely more difficult for the rookie traders than to invest in companies.
Forex trading style, long term or short term are basically risky, scalping trading needs higher concentration and sometimes traders that having a high temper, they very hard to control emotion, but scalping is good for making money at a short time, but need skill.
