Scalping e-minis

  1. I wonder what would happen if you hit that "join both" button on J trader with 25 lots right now? Probably the little fill alarm would sound like a beatnik beating his bongo drums.

  2. 80% is doable but, in my view, a much more relaxing life can be achieved with a higher reward:risk and a lower hit rate and fewer trades... give less to the broker, trade less and make the same as you would have with your 80%...

  3. Well my trend indicators aren't working worth a darn, but my chop indicaor is at 100%.

(I just listen to how many people are tired of seeing a small profit disappear and they are going to quit trying to hit home runs and just take some sure small profits.....Let's see, after the trend comes the chop, and then after the chop what comes next?)

  4. you would laugh, but i did that for the last 6 month. is not working for me, i dont know why. i can not stand the hunt for this 1:5 or 1:10 RR-trades...im more kind of a "collector" i think...

  6. Today was fantastic for me -- I normally run around 5-10% return per day on my simulated account with Wasendorf & Son Company, but today I managed 17.50%

After I learned that indicators are just a small suggestion and to actually look at the chart and ask myself, "what is REALLY going on so far today," I became much better at trading e-minis. I mainly scalped for 2 points here and there today, but I wish I would learn to ride longer trends like the one this morning.

    Statistics for today:

If anyone would like a chart and the actual trades, I'll be more than happy to provide them.

Again, this was a good day -- my average for the past 3 or so weeks is usually around 5-10% per day.

  7. Hi aphie,

this looks like great trading. 17 consecutive winners :)

You made over 7k, but how many contracts did you trade on average per RT? I guess you traded more than one...

  8. Captain,

You're probably going to think this is crazy, but I do average down quite often when trading the ES. The trick to doing this is two-fold:

    a) Knowing when you can do it and get away with it

    b) Only averaging up or down to your stop, but keeping the stop.

I traded 10 contracts, sometimes up to 15. I am doing a lot of things that fly against conventional wisdom but I do them under a system that I have tested and it works well for *me*. It may not work as well for another person.

Are you trading simulated or real? How is it going for you? E-mail me and let's discuss strategies. I will show you what I am looking at when I trade these mini-ATM machines.

It's totally different when you have to put up real money.

  10. Well I'm assuming I'm not the greatest trader -- so this is just a testament to how important mental discipline really is. We will see what happens when I have real money in the account -- but since I've already written off the entire 5k as lost, I don't think it is going to affect me one way or the other. I will still continue to trade my signals and do what I've been doing. To do any differently would just be dumb.
