Problem is someone like GM just keeps repeating the same old mistakes while the GOP says tough shit to individuals who hit hard times and need some assistance. GM gets bailed out and then lays off hundreds of workers anyway so in the end the result is the wealthy get protected and the workers get the boot. There is nothing American about a shiity product constantly losing out to Asia and Europe... and the fact that Kia and Honda now build cars in the U.S. and still outsell GM craps built in Canada shows you the real truth. If this was a truly free market then inefficient crap like GM should have been pared down to their best 3 or 4 models. We are just subsidizing U.S. failure instead of focing them to innovate and compete. Case in point: How many SUVs does Honda/Acura make? How many SUVs does GM and all its brands make? You will be surprised that Honda/Acura have MDX, RDX and their cheaper Pilot and CRV counterparts and kick the ass out of the 30+ GM makes.... Imagine McD making 30 shitty hamburgers or 6 really great ones.
