Why stop there, they should develop and stockpile some nukes as well. Best way to keep the peace.

No need for that. China can just send some missiles weekly and do an economic embargo on Taiwan. Then all investors will flee. It will just exhaust any country(ies) who comes to the rescue. Then US can't continue to foot the bills for years. It is going to similar to Cuba situation. That will just destroy Taiwan.

Then why not US help Ukraine develop nukes???

World powers do not wan to see more nukes. In the future, only US, Russia and China can decide the fate of the earth and the human being kind.

It is the sad fact. Humans developed the weapons to kill themselves.

Because US allows them to have it. And Israel will never pose a threat to US.

But if you give nukes to Ukraine, you never know when, how and where you'll use them. They can never be trusted.

They could very well do that too. Japan might re-arm too with the Chinese threatening them with a disputed island occupied by Japanese citizens.

Those islands are not occupied by anyone.

That dispute started because after WW II, US military wanted to control Taiwan and all the surrounding islands. But with the 1945 Yalta Agreement between FD Roosevelt and General Chiang, US was obligated to return Taiwan to China. So US State Department asked US military to return Taiwan to China. But US Defense Department retained the Senkaku (or Diaoyu) Islands along with the Okinawa. Chiang asked US many times, but since FD Roosevelt already died, they went to deaf ears.

After Chinese Civil War and Korean War, US had no intention to return Senkaku/Diaoyu Island to PRC. That is the situation left to today.

Those islands are not even important. But they are more symbolic and national honor to keep them.

OMG!! What expert massage of the truth! LOL The dispute did NOT start after WWII. It started in 1971 after the Japanese regained control of the islands. Sankaku Islands were never owned by the Chinese, whether it's by mainland or Taiwan. The islands were discovered by the Chinese as early as the 14th century but they were never inhabited or occupied or owned by the Chinese or anybody and were only used as navigational markers by whoever needed to travel by sea around that area because they were in the middle of the ocean. It was administered by the Japanese since 1895 as part of the Okinawa prefecture until WWII when they lost the war. The control of the islands was given to the United States to administer until 1972 when the control was given back to the Japanese. During all those times, nobody wanted the islands, nobody has ever lived on the islands, owned the islands or did anything with the islands except at around 1900 a Japanese man put 200 men on the islands to start a business and the business failed miserably and then nobody wanted to have anything with the islands ever since. That is until 1969, a study published by the UN revealed huge reserves of oil & gas underneath the islands and all of sudden everybody wanted to lay claim to the islands. Both China and Taiwan, united in their claims starting in 1971 that the islands belong to China and Japan disputed that it's theirs and started building lighthouses when they regained control over the islands. Coincidence? I would like to think and hope not.

Right now, the Senkaku Islands are still under the administration of the Japanese but with no developments of any kind (except the building of lighthouses) and China and Taiwan continue to claim ownership of them. @RedSun will hate me for this but these are the facts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senkaku_Islands
