Since tomorrow is a Rollover Day for the ES I may stay out of the market until the afternoon.

Is tomorrow the day? I haven't kept up with it. What is the symbol for the next one. Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question but I have only been doing futures since Jan this year.

    Note to all:

This is from a friend who is a big trader of the Q's. This is his post on Raging Bull. A little fundemental info that I was not aware of.

It is NOT safe to buy into this rebound yet. EU centra bank is going to raise rate tomorrow. Depending on one basis point or two basis point, the EU market will be affected. It will also affect to our market tomorrow. The impact is most likely "negative". Therefore, I will still stay on the sidelines with 100% in cash today. Besides, it is summer, why not relax and just watch for most of the time. GL all.

    (Voluntary Disclosure: Position- No Position)

I try to be as unbiased in my trading as possible. But is always nice when you see the market going down to know why. Gives you a direction to look in anyway.

Rollover days can distort volume, tick, & long term time charts.

    K-Rock,
Thanks for the info. I just got an email from the TI guys about his as well. I thought it would be next week for this change over. I am going to have to look at everything before I can determine any levels of S/R for tomorrow. I am not sure how possible that will be for tomorrow or Friday. Next week should be close to normal at least for my type of trading. Here is what TI says, should be helpful for switching on your platform.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is the first day of contract change: M6 becomes U6. Remember to change your trading platform as well as your charts.

Ninja Trader: Use the Control Center; Tools; Instrument Manager; Remove the older contract month and add the new month. For example, use the arrows to remove ES 06-06 from the left column; scroll down the list of futures to ES, make sure the Expiry: is set to 09-06, and use the arrow to add it to the left column.

BestDirectFast, and I believe, Trade Maven, can change the monthly contract from the trading dome: click on Trading; Profiles; at the bottom of the pop-up window is Contract Expiration.

  8. Technically, the changeover is next week, but the new contract is available for trading tomorrow. You can trade either, but for this you'd want whatever has the most volume.

You may want to track both with your platform to see where the volume is.

As for S/R, you may want to look to the internal S/R, as with today's action.

I was thinking next week was the actual swtchover. Triple witch day. My profit charts are showing the S/R levels already. I'll post them soon.

    Thank you, Lamont.

    4re,

You should consider not trading tomorrow since you are not familiar with how price and volume behaves during rollover dates.

Volume will get thinner for the June contract between the Roll Over date (June 8, 2006) to the September front month and the last Trading date (June 15, 2006) of the June contract.

    Just my 2 cents.
