I guess they did, in that I didn't take any short trades today. However, I didn't take any long trades either. :(

Not a good day for divergence trading (30 minute chart had a clear trend up since yesterday afternoon).

Tomorrow should be better for divergences.

Maybe I'll learn to take the otherside of divergences - breakouts - like 4re does successfully.

Well guys and gals, lets wrap up this week on a good note. So far so good this week.

    Here are tomorrows numbers:

Once again I have long for tomorrow just in case one gets taken out in the pre market. And again they are close together but totally separate. The farther you look left the more you will see what I am seeing on these.

    Long: 1289 - 1292
    1293.50 - 1297.50

    Short: 1277- 1272.50

I hope everyone has a great trading day tomorrow.

  5. Great thread.

In all of your experience, who has the fastest execution times for ES (or chicago futures, in general), but at a reasonable price (under $400/month, preferably under $150/mth)
Or at least who has the best reputation?

I mean, who/what should "scalpers" trade ES with?

    Thanks

I personally don't really know how to answer this question or if there is an answer. This market is really first come first served. And if price moves through your entry or exit you are automatically executed at your price. Any other answers on this?

I never really mastered TI's JOT method.

Let's try to keep this thread on breakout trading. I'll be glad to PM about TI methods and adaptations thereof.

  8. I don't mean with limit orders, but with market orders. I was using ameritrade for stocks, for example, and I found that many of my most crucial market trades were getting quite delayed, even past their 5 sec guarantee, and that meant a few cents in some cases. When you're only after a few cents in the first place, that kills you. Others like fidelity or etrade have 1 or 2 sec guarantees. This is what i'm talking about, but for ES.

For example, I spoke to a J-trader rep, and he explained that if I was a "scalper" of eminis i would be much better off getting X-trader instead, because of faster trade execution. But of course that costs $$. Something like $700/mth for each market!

I use Alaron's platform called CQG. It is my first platform and its very basic as far as features are concerned but its free. One thing though its very fast from my understanding and very reliable. If I click buy market, I am filled by the time my finger is finished with the click. If it takes longer then that to get filled.... I think you need a new platform and/or broker.

I pay 3.80 a round turn with trading the eminis on very low volume. I can give this rate to anyone that is interested in opening a account with Alaron with my broker that I refer to him. Please send me a PM for details.

What broker are you using? I know GHCO and Velocity both give you X-Trader for free. I have heard that it is quick. I use Ninja Trader which cost $50 a month is programable and on a market order I get executed instantly. Of course with a .25 slippage which is the norm. I also have the flatten all button which is even faster because it doesn't ask you if you are sure about that order, which does happen on a market order. I tried to use X-Trader but I couldn't get the hang of it. Too many windows open all the time and stuff like that. I have geard good things about Trade Maven also except for about 3 months ago when they were having problems.
