Exactly, this is the kind of gays/gals I enjoy talking to on here. Makes trading interesting and educating.

    Hi 4RE,

I am still on vacation. FYI, I removed my comment shortly after posting it because after giving it more thoughts, I felt that my comment should be removed. Here is the reason:

Your system trades purely on breakouts, and my 3K (not that it is worth 3K:D ) system traded on breakout as well as swing trades (i.e. selling at the prior day highs and buying at the prior day lows), the breakout entries serves as a reversal to the swing trades. Therefore, saying that my system was breakeven at best should have ZERO bearing on your system's results.

In fact, I like your system much better because it is simpler to follow and its trades less frequently than mine.

I hope that my prior comment didn't discourage or confuse anyone trying to test out your new proposed trading strategy.

    Have a great weekend.

Well 4re, commissions for 72 trades with 4.80 per rt cost 345.60$.
Profit of 18 points is 900$, so commissions reduce profit by 38.4%. What should be interesting to see is going for 3, or 4 points with a 1.25 stop. I'm with porgie here, 1:1 risk reward is way too low.

Fair enough, I was just thinking there might be a way to make this type of trade profitable. We will look to raise the R/R and see.

    Thanks,

Not at all, we have guys trading several different ways on here. My way isn't the only way by all means. Glad to have your comments always. Have a good vacation. I bet it is going way too fast isn't it.

  10. The entry signals for any system is the hard part to get right.......that is wrong according to great traders much smarter than i am...........seriously........but, i like to think like this.....nothing can be discretionary......emini trading.....if you think it you are thinking it based on something you have seen before.....if it only exists in your mind or on a piece of paper it doesn't exist where it needs to be to make you money emini trading......which is on your chart.........or , just because it exists in our minds doesn't mean it can exist on chart......it is all mechanical.......it occurs and it must be repetitive........if not you are throwing darts or flipping coins and in those 2 cases you are net loser eventually.......based on something u have seen before says you gained some confidence in it means you have seen it more than once.........if u don't use something u have seen more than once you are a person who doesn't care if he loses money in his trading.......so, by having seen it many times as we should, to incorporate it into the system, we begin to build a mechanical system.......what i am saying is repetitive events yielding enough pts to build systems.on it is what we should look for.......then find the right times to begin and end trading for the day and best time frame for the market u trade and the best of the very best events..to trade it with.....events/pictures u see ...familiarity breeds points.... ...this is for daytrading .....emini's....so 4re, if ur new test is based on repetitive events or event, and u see the points following the event/s are enough most of the time to capture the 4.5 pts as your friend suggests, then we can really test something that can have good results most likely........breakout trading is for the few.......what happens there is risk reward is always very bad.....is it a breakout or a fakeout? that is the scary part for most..........
