  1. I wish I said it that way.

  2. I could have predicted crox was a great short @ $49 before it shot up to $76, but I didn't.

I could have said dow 7777 would hold for 2 years, and within 2 weeks the dow drops -15% and takes out 7777, but I didn't.

I did say the S&P was a great sell at 1250, and would see 1000 in a month.

I did say the S&P would see 700 when it was at 800.

  3. I never worked for a bank, I just wrote their software. Yeah, yeah blame me for Y2k. It's called job security. In computer lingo, a "B" stands for byte, a "K" stands for kilobyte, an "M" stands for megabyte, a "G" stands for a gigabyte, a "T" stands for a terabyte and "Q" for a quadrabyte.

I have no idea what comes after that, because the salesman who sold me my first 8086 in 1986 swore I would never need more than a 20MB hard drive. Damn, this thing is slow.

My useless contribution to this thread. Those in my iggy pit may now throw tantrums.

  4. Perhaps your calls are much more accurate. I don't know, as I haven't been following. I follow some of surf's predictions because his posts wear clown pants and draw comical attention to themselves. (I come here for entertainment, after all.) I simply don't believe in market predictions with price and time specificity. Perhaps that's just a reflection of my own limitations. But I don't think so.

All are Base 2, binary, abbreviations.

Hard disk manufacturers don't use Base 2 abbreviations. If you read the fine print on the box it states that the drive has 20 million bytes of storage, not 20,971,520 (20*1024*1024).

  6. and there is the pentabyte, yes that monster data warehouse has been proven to be working...

ps dads first 8086 had initially two 136 kb floppies and later he was proud as anything to have a 5 Mb HDD.... Let's not forget the 128 kB memory that was later upgraded to 256K. Bill Gates proclaiming that no one would ever need more than 640K hence the max 1Mb memory limit in DOS.

    Actually, it's petabyte.

To get really anal, peta- is a decimal prefix, so it means 1000^5 bytes and not 1024^5 which is a pebibyte.

Thanks for the sarcasm. I only asked because the M could be interpreted in 2 ways. Just because you're not familiar with Roman Numerals doesn't mean that someone can't misinterpret your post. And it is relevant, as getting those returns on $300 thousand is nice but nothing special, but on $300 million is extraordinary.

did you know because some engineers didnt know other foreign engineers used a non-metric system (feet etc) it blew up a 150 million dollar costing rocket?when i see these things K=M and stuff like that I feel like why dont all people just use the same systems and abreviations

Yeah, that was a spectacular screw-up.

But, no actual foreigners were used or harmed in this entirely American event:
