You can disagree all you want. Fact remains, you are espousing a key tenet of Marxism. You also continue to miss the point. I'm not opposed to term limits. Put them, leave them out, I dont care. I am simply pointing out that they will accomplish nothing except waste everyones time in pointless arguments and distract from genuinely important issues. Which is in fact exactly what you are doing. Cheers.
You could have fooled me So far ALL you've done is keep repeating the same opinion without any specifics to back it up How is it you overlooked the question, again, as to what specific problems congressional term limits would cause?
LOL. I just returned from seeing the new Planet of the Apes. Quite well done. But I was laughing at myself for rooting for the apes. Go Apes! Humans suck!
I don't think compared to other issues this one is important. But what might make a difference is an amendment spelling out exactly how candidates qualify to run for President, the house and senate, and specifying equal federal campaign funding for all qualified candidates. The amendment could make it illegal for candidates to spend other than their limited campaign funds and also illegal for any other person or entity, other than the candidate themselves, to spend money for media exposure on behalf of the candidate. Such an amendment seems the only way to get around the otherwise insurmountable problems created by the First Amendment. This would have an inherent additional benefit. It would automatically limit the time available for campaigning in the media to the period starting when campaign funds were released and ending on election day.

That is all well and good. But of course the giant CATCH 22 is that this legislation can only come from those who will be impacted by the legislation themselves. And they won't vote for it. That's also the giant hole in our constitution. What happens when our representatives run wild and turn themselves over to profit interests? The constitution offers no remedy. The founders themselves...or at least a good many of them...may well have said that when things get bad enough, it is time for yet another revolution. Another possible alternative is creation of a strong third party that can gain massive public support, and bring the democrats and republicans to their senses. But here the problem is that mass media is now completely controlled by corporate interests, and there is no outlet for a good "revolutionary" third party platform. So around and around it goes. A huge problem with no solution.
It's discouraging. but, of course you are right. In particular the control of the media by interested parties, as you point out, will make it very difficult to get things back on track.
repubs created tea party to take votes away from dems, since the rep couldn't argue convincingly with latest 2004-2008 fiasco..similar to gm marketing the brand new saturn in 85 to compete with japan, just another chevy..we need a central voice, maybe the college kids could start one, hard to quiet them, although video games seem to have them hypnotized
There is nothing much President/Congress can do. Americans should mold USA into a low cost, high quality, exported oriented nation and amend the Constitution accordingly.
