Not this time. From the 2009 swine flu onwards, the market was ripe for a growth period. And social media did not exist the way it does now. AND, there was no anti-vaxxer movement back in those times. Now there is, and so more people are going to die because their parents were morons. Some folks here may find that statement counter-intuitive, because there is not a known vaccine against this corona virus yet. But I tell you something...Having those childhood vaccines has probably helped yer immune system in more ways than will ever be known, when shit like this happens.
Not being a doctor, I err on the side of believing an anti-fragile immune system would be subject to the worst torture before being robust. So IMO, flu vaccines are a bad idea when you're younger. When you get to the point where you won't survive, then I think it makes sense to get them. Sort of like buying a put on the flu.
Well, this won't help the bull case: https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/26/politics/rocket-hits-us-embassy-compound-baghdad/index.html
If you're going to take the high end of estimates on deaths, you should take the high end on infections too. For comparison, the CDC estimates 61000 deaths on 45 million symptomatic infections. Now consider this coronavirus: it is estimated to be twice as contagious as influenza. The death rate is hovering around 3% vs 1.1% using your numbers and 0.14% using the CDC's. Lastly (and critically), influenza incubates in the body for only two days before symptoms appear. That leaves generally one day when an asymptomatic adult can spread the disease. It's unclear how long this coronavirus incubates, but Fox News today quoted estimates of two weeks. If true, that's definitely not good news.
This happens every day in Iraq. For the last 20 years... A State Department spokesperson said Sunday evening that they "are aware of reports of rockets landing in the International Zone," but did not address the US embassy itself. The State Department did not respond to a query as to whether any embassy employees were injured. So the govt hasn't confirmed it has hit the embassy, presumably for security reasons. If Iran launched one of its ballistic missiles at the US embassy, holy shit that would be brutal. But that's not what's happened here. They tolerate this shit because there is no alternative that doesn't result in a ton of deaths. These rocket attacks are like mosquitoes. Look at Israel, this is the modus operandi for these rebels.
Only thing that can help the bull case now is a Dovish Fed, along with AMZN on Thursday. Let's hope people bought lots of toys and stuff!
Are you asking if I’m patient zero? I don’t understand the big deal. Just drink responsibly. And, of course, stay thirsty my friends.
