aint no sector I've ever heard of.

Is this some sort of ratio you're trying to show?

Are you aware of all of the classification/structural changes in both the "Information Technology" sector and "Financials" sector since 1990, probably rendering your zero word "analysis" ineffective?

  3. Have you heard of the one that makes this look mild?

    Your forum posting is unintelliglble.

What are you referring to by "one" and what is "mild"?

In clear English, please detail what meaning you are trying to convey with your post and image.

  5. It speaks for itself.

I agree, the numerator is mangled.

Diff today: financials are stagnant and tech actually earns cash flow outside of their high R&D expenses. In the 90s financials were high flying too and tech even crazier.

You do know that the entire Real Estate sector was split out from Financials sector in 2016? There's a whole stack of "income earning" REITs that are no longer part of the Financials sector, so your chart is suffering from selection bias. There were also quite a few Information Technology companies that moved to other areas too.

Since S&P don't back-calculated their indices due to the structural changes, any historical analysis is garbage.
