“Pro-Russian channels and QAnon conspiracy theorists think Moscow is launching airstrikes on Ukraine to destroy bioweapon manufacturing labs in order to prevent the American infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci from creating a sequel to the COVID-19 virus,” Foreign Policy reports.

“This theory hangs on the entirely discredited idea that the coronavirus was designed as a bioweapon, perhaps by the U.S. government itself. And yet, the theory is being shared thousands of times, faster than regulated social media networks can yank the conspiracy theory down. On unregulated platforms, such as Telegram and 8chan, the conspiracy theory has become incredibly popular, racking up hundreds of thousands of hits each day.”

“The theory is now being actively contributed to, and promoted, by one Russian embassy, an official Russian state propaganda outlet, and media channels in Serbia and China.”

These twisted fantasies being pushed as propaganda by the Russians is unbelievable. Yet we have all the QAnon idiots and some Putin Republicans who are running with it.

Of course we have this as well...

Russia Is Now Claiming the US Trained Birds to Deliver Ukrainian Bioweapons
The Kremlin’s efforts to convince its citizens that Ukraine is the real aggressor are becoming increasingly desperate.

The claim of secret biological warfare labs is not proven by the existence of publicly announced laboratories.

If the Russians had any evidence of clandestine biological warfare facilities, why didn't they press their case before the invasion? Three weeks ago Russia was claiming an ongoing genocide of ethnic Russians in the breakaway provinces. Two weeks ago, Russia claimed they had to invade because Ukraine had been taken over by Nazis. Now, it turns out these secret labs that were announced by press release are the reason Russia invaded? It is just laughable. The alacrity with which people swallow their bullshit has really made their propaganda skills atrophy. They don't even have to try and make the lies believable.

I read a story a few years ago about Russia complaining about the same thing.

Well the fever to blame everything on the Russians is pretty high, as well to involve other nations in the fight against them. I don't know if that's happening but shelling your own citizens, and blaming it on the Russians, could help generate help from other nations.

Here's a better source of info:
