I could say that there is a larger power game going on in this article than meets the eye but that is no longer true because the internal conflicts have blown wide open and do meet the eye now. Everyone has known that the Wagner guy and the Chechen guy/Kadyrov have been conspiring and have ambitions to overthrow - or see the removal of- both Shoigu the Defense Minister, and Gerasimov the Commander of the Russian Army. That not-so-little conflict has blown wide open. It is exacerbated by the fact that the Wagner guy and his troops are in charge of the assault on Bakhmut and that is not going well. The Wagner troops were promoted as being Russia's best and the Wagner guy talked Putin into giving him the best equipment and supplies and some of the best non-Wagner troops to take Bakhmut and be able to have this as a victory. Wagner guy's plan was to use that expected victory to advance his influence and replace Shoigu and Gerasimov. Except Wagner guy is stalled in Bakhmut. He is not defeated but it is not going well. So Wagner guy deals with it the way all Russians do, which is to blame someone else. And the person he blames is - you guessed it- Shoigu and Gerasimov. This is pretty ugly and not going away. And Putin is put in a bind now where Wagner guy is directly and openly disparaging the Russian Army. That is a no-go zone in Vlad's playbook. MORE TO COME. Sure but these new recruits will have jugglers, accordion players and magicians on the front lines to keep morale up. Although I have not seen any reports on how that is working out. Certainly they do not need any more clowns at the front. The officers can and do fill that role very easily.
